ideas for more fish storage on 226 Seafarer?

Here's my hatch. Still love the storage. Could put a huge Rubbermaid tub or cooler down there if you needed to for short term ice storage. I caught 3 halibut in one trip this year but none were too big for my box so in they went...

ideas for more fish storage on 226 Seafarer?

I’d be more worried about catching a big halibut then storing it! Limits only one per person and with the limited season you might just go home with one halibut and be happy. of course this means post pictures of your biggest halibut! :);)

Major failure from rot and delamination

All it takes is water getting in. I'm sure some production boats are doomed from the factory (all brands). One hole not bedded properly is all it would take. I strengthened mine with 1708 Glass and epoxy while I was painting my engine bracket and scrubbing/inspectin every inch of the transom...

ideas for more fish storage on 226 Seafarer?

There's no magic huge compartment. The existing fishboxes you've seen. No floor storage obviously but you can put in a huge floor locker (if you don't have the front aux tank option) by just cutting a hole and installing a hatch. I did it and others have too. The 228 Seafarer has a bracket and...

Major failure from rot and delamination

Saw a video on qualified captain, guy ripped transom off big grady with twins. Ran it up on a mud flat going fast. Probably had existing rot. engines seperated and flipped back 180 degrees. Euro transom. Shit happens.

    Cockpit heat ideas 208 Adventure

I'm amazed you fit all those ducts in there. My friend had a cheap Chinese diesel heater in his 231, loves it but he doesn't have a single duct. It just blasts from under the port gunnel. Heats the cockpit fine but the vents seems next level. I'm sure your boat is a pleasure to be on during the...

1987 228 Seafarer Aluminum tank and Fuel lines replacement

You can do it! Mine took an afternoon. Had same issue with gas leaking below floor.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Got my SKAR Audio 6.5" installed firing down at my head from hardtop, new marine wires and bigger amp, makes them all sound very nice. The low-profile sub is OK, better low end sound but not much thump. So I bought a 10" Fusion sub that an owner here showed me fits in the inspection plate under...

Sounds like a great system Jim, Looking forward to seeing the photos. Hope that image resizer works for you. Would also like to hear about your boat camping / fishing trips into Canada. I have dreams of doing that someday. I'm in Seattle as well and boat camp when I can.

    2000/2017 228 Seafarer (updated)

How is this possible to mount speakers under the front seat driver seat. Didn't you have to cut into the fishbox that goes under the driver seat? I've measured mine and it seems like there is no depth to mount the speaker. How much depth is there in there?

    Is yes worth it?

Yup, Skunkboat for the win. Roll the dice. They wouldn't offer it if the deck wasn't stacked in their favor. I've got 1300 on a 20 year old motor. Yamaha of course.

Used Grady White Shopping- 24 ' range Recommendations and Insight

100% agree, they are tank! Very heavy and beamy. I believe the Gulfstream is 500 lbs heavier than the Voyager 24. (needs its 200 gallon tanks!) Don't quote me on that. Also love the freeboard on the Gulfstream over my Seafarer.

Used Grady White Shopping- 24 ' range Recommendations and Insight

I wanted a Voyager 24' but they are hard to find. Cons are that with the euro transom you lose 2' of deck so it's the same fishing/patio room as the Seafarer 22' w/ bracket. For example my Sefarer 228 is longer over all than the voyager. I get a full width swim deck too. Spent a lot of time on...

This seems like a pretty good spot on the Seafarer, not my boat but saw it locally.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

I had them on my last boat. Easy install but ya they get drenched with salt water and fresh. As soon as the silicone seal fails between speaker and boat the back gets doused. If you have a true marine speaker w/ plastic basket and cover the terminals with dielectric grease you can get a few more...

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Dennis, I tested them both free air in my hands. Not a scientific test of any kind. I still need to make bigger pods and 3d print difference speaker rings to accommodate. But all will be in sealed boxes. It's going to be hard to do any serious before/after tests with my system since I'm adding...

Skar 6.5 vs a nice Polk 6.5, check out the size difference. Both sound nice but Skar has deep bass. Need to remake my speaker pods to accommodate bigger size.

Just stainless 1/4” bolts with washers. Sealed top with mastic tape or silicone. Hard top is strong.
