    Updating stereo on boat 228

Yes, meant to mention that. It fits on the shelf on either side under the gunnel. But I could only get two screws on it so I didn’t mount it there.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Photos of my new low profile 8” subwoofer, has built in amp. It’s mid install here, so not wired up. But it’s completely hidden unless you’ve been down to look at it.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

I put my deck in the electronic box above my head on the hardtop. great access. The only con is you need to run lots of wiring down the little rigging tube. Finished that mission yesterday. Took 50' of tinned marine wire. As mentioned, tons of blue tooth options. You don't really need a head...

Here's a serious JL stereo in a Seafarer here on the boards: https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/2000-2017-228-seafarer-updated.33630/#post-231263

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Size is the issue. How big were your poly planers? Little speakers sound tiny and little, sound like noise at cruise. Bigger speakers will always sound more natural. BTW I used the same holes for my rear poly brackets hang my bigger SKARs. So no new holes in hard top. You put on the Burwins...

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Also if you don't have much room for an amp get a digital marine version, they are tiny and very efficient. Class A/B is the typical amp class and does sound better but is also power-hungry. However, now that I need more power this year I'm switching from a digital 4 channel to a (free) older...

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Is Poly Planar a decent brand of speaker? - Not in my opinion. Neither is BOSS or Pyle but they do get the job done and are expendable. If you want bumping marine speakers on a budget but can't/won't spend for JL's (me). Look at SKAR audio marine speakers they are a little bigger than most...

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Subscribed. Some ideas for you. I'm on a budget (not a poly planer budget, but not JL) but good sound is important to me. I have a 228 and have been upgrading my stereo to version 2 this winter. I made a big hole in my cuddy for a 12" sub on my last walkaround and was not impressed. The bass...

What are your Top 3 favorite boat mods or additions you've made?

Here's a full 2-page post with huge pics about the "hole" process. All I did to prep was belt sand some fiberglass bumps and paint/prime. with Marine topsides paint. I give 3 hatch options in this post. I'm happy with it 18 months later...

    Cockpit heat ideas 208 Adventure

Lots of people use the Mr. Heater around here, including me. Most people say to disable the tip sensor. I haven't on mine yet and YES it does turn off when tipped on a rocking boat. I screwed mine to a board, don't need anything else.

What are your Top 3 favorite boat mods or additions you've made?

My other favorite mod that I think is great on walkaround boats. Bow boarding ladder for beaching. I beach alot during the summers to camp. Docks are usually full or don’t exist on the remote places. Rail opens too. Still looks great when closed. Also I have a Keel Guard now, not pictured.

Daves Trailer Sales and Venture Trailers WARNING!

I could replace the tongue of that trailer in less than 2 hours with hand tools. Order the part and start wrenching. You've spent more time trying to flame the poor dealer on multiple sites than it would take to fix it. Why didn't you lower your drop hitch? Had it cranked way up! Look at this...

    Transom Mount Bait Station

Oh interesting. I've seen some really cool boats and tables come out of Australia, too bad shipping is a bit cost prohibitive to the "states".

    Transom Mount Bait Station

Wow gorgeous work. I'm building one to go in the same spot on the same boat. It's cantilevered out over the livewell, pretty far. So it's comfortable working but I can still use the stock rod holders in front of livewell. Design of legs isn't going to be as nice as yours though! Currently I'm...
