I'm looking to replace some of the black plastic window trim on my 87 Seafarer, anyone have a source for direct replacement trim?

    New fuel tanks!!!

I'd bet the main problem is the contact points on the bottom, especially if they still used rubber there. Mine was pitted and had holes only where the rubber made contact with the tank, top and bottom.

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

It turns out that the issue I had with the counter rotation 140 was because of a pinched wire running under the power pack, the new engine wiring harness has longer leads up there that caused one wire to end up against one of the mounting studs . This caused the alarm horn to go off and it go...

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

Thanks! Yeah the ole girl still sports the original 30 year old twin Johnson 140's, plans are to try and get 3 to 5 more years out of them before doing a modern re power. Only positive to these old outboards in simplicity, I can work on them myself if needed, but economy is not to be had. I'm...

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

Thanks for noticing, love a restoration challenge, it has come a long way from where it was. The previous owner died from cancer a few years back, his son sold it to me with the stipulation I take he and his mom out in it when finished. He said it was his dads pride and joy, and they had many...

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

Put the Seafarer in the water today but was quickly chased back to the ramp by a few strong thunder storms. But it floats! :praise 8)

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

First attempt at putting the boat in the water didn't go well, had an issue with a neutral safety switch so I didn't leave the dock. But while pulling out of the water I got another surprise, the winch plate broke loose from its mounting plate. Lucky I had a safety chain in place or it...

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

New front bunks installed on the trailer, and also a new bow eye bracket fabricated out of stainless steel installed. For those using their Grady for salt water, I recommend that you inspect the bow eye steel bracket to make sure it hasn't rusted away.

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

The file Grady White sent me will not post to this site, most likely needs to be converted or something. I took close ups of the sections and hope that helps.

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

My welder really did a nice job fabricating the bracket, top grade stainless steel insures it is there to stay. Man, what a pain in the *%# installing it though. Those small areas just aren't made for my big hands and forearms, but I managed somehow.

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

Many thanks to all that have helped, my local welder that built my tank is making the bow bracket out of stainless steel. Funny after talking to Grady White, they were no help over the phone. But later they emailed me the drawing from the archives. So I will post it for others to refer to in the...

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

Just got off the phone with Grady White about the bare steel bow eyelet bracket that ties the top and front eyelets together. I was told they have no replacement or specs for me to use in order to have another built. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed, I have nothing left to use as a...

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

I imagine a previous owner stored a wet with salt water anchor rope up there, this caused the bare steel bracket to quickly rust away. I really need to solve this problem before using the boat, I won't be able to safely anchor up or use the eyelets without causing damage to the fiberglass. I'm...

bow lifting eye moving up & down

I have a 226 Seafarer in which the bracket has rusted away to powder, not sure if it would be exactly the same as yours. I have nothing to use as a pattern to make a new one, not sure what to do. I wish I could understand how it fits in there for one.

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

I remember after bringing this boat home and cleaning out the cabin storage compartments, I found a big pile of rusted steel in the forward compartment. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it was there, or what it used to be. Looked like chunks of rusted out leaf springs. Well, while...
