    1992 spirit termites

I'm having my Seafarer 226 tented next moth for dry wood termites. I have tried everything else with no good results. They seem to be only in the very front tapered part of the port side stringer inside the storage area. I get signs of wings in that cabinet and nowhere else.

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

It's a very stable fishing platform, but heading straight into chop is the one thing I'm not happy with. I guess my 2,400.00 investment was well worth it though, it's quite a boat for it's age!

Ride Balance Changed After a Rough Trip

If it has a list just sitting in the water, it has to be extra weight on the one side. Not sure if the bumpy ride could of caused water to soak in through an area where the motors are mounted or somewhere else and add the weight. It would have to be a significant amount, sure doesn't seem...

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

Here is the attachment Grady White sent me for the 226 bow lifting bracket.

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

Yes, original twin 1987 140 Johnson LOOPERS with all original power heads. This boat is a little hot rod still, I have seen 46 mph at only 5,000 rpm, I never push them past that out of common sense. You certainly do not see any of these old outboards still in service anymore, they get gallons...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

My 34 year old 226 will serve as a great example of a truly great multipurpose GW model, and live on for many more years!

Anyone come up with tool to straighten anchors out?

I straightened one by sliding the cross shaft into one of the holes in my bumper for hitch balls, then used a long pipe to slide over the bent arm, added some grunt and the rest is history.

    22 seafarer

I can attest to owning an older Seafarer, mine being an 87. I too was told to avoid the fitch outboards and that my loopers were much more trouble free. I gave 2,400.00 for my 226 including trailer a few years back and spent around 9 months doing a restoration. New fuel system (including tank)...

    A couple questions about a 228 Seafarer...

Just had it detailed, not bad for an oldie!

    A couple questions about a 228 Seafarer...

Man do I feel left out in these kind of posts having vintage twins on my Seafarer. ;)

    Tell us about your boat/build

My first boat was a 1985 Answer Fishmaster walk through, kept it 5 years before selling it because of marriage and a kid on the way. Some 25 years later I found this 1987 226 for a song and did a restoration on the hull, but the twin original 33 year old 140 Johnsons told me they were not ready...

I was a little bit offended today

    I consider my 87 226 a Trophy, but not by name. ;)

    Advice on raising scuppers?

On my 226 the scupper drains (4) are ever so slightly below my deck and have a little taper in the deck right in front of them. Obviously they can not be raised, so the type you are referring to probably are farther forward from the transom and have hoses running to the back scuppers. Picture is...

    Advice on raising scuppers?

I guess I'm a bit lost on this thread. How does the deck drain properly if the scuppers are raised?

Just getting my 87 detailed this week, good luck with yours, enjoy!

    New owner

Congrats on the 226 purchase, I enjoy my old girl very much (87 226) and pretty much restored everything but the old Johnson 140's that somehow just keep performing well. I can burn 60 gallons in a day trolling and running, but so far that's cheaper than replacing the outboards.

    Self bailing cockpit scuppers

I used the kitchen and bath that seasick referred to, it cuts out with just a razor knife if need be.

    Self bailing cockpit scuppers

Your set up is almost identical to my 87 226, I have the flapper scuppers and they sit slightly above the water line. That back access panel needs to be caulked in like the deck covers for fuel tank and such. That way any water that backs up does not drain into the bilge, and you still have...
