Unless it has been corrected with an offset in your MFD, your depth finder provides the distance between your transducer and the bottom. Transducer depth may or may not be equal to the draft of your boat. Probably close enough though.

Highly recommend 8-plait rode! I found it much easier to lay in the anchor locker and have had few if any tangles. With my old three strand I had continuous issues. Changed and soaked the 8-plait and I’ve had no issues since.

I have the same issue with my primer bulbs. Bought new ones. Same issue. Remember primer bulbs are not designed for pumping air and if they are empty they will not work very well. Sometimes they do sometimes they don’t! However the low pressure fuel pump will suck fuel through them easily...

Any professional company installing lifts should have a cable tensiometer and should use it to confirm proper boat placement. If not there may be organizations that would let you borrow or rent one.

With regard to PFDs, and everyone is probably aware, that the inflatable variety must be worn at all times to be legal. Type I if you are going far offshore, Type III is what most use. Also need Type IV aboard also. Enjoy!

An autopilot has different components, usually three, course computer, pump, and heading/yaw sensor. Problem could be communication links as well! Try a better electronics guy or get a better detailed explanation. Most components can be repaired or replaced.
