    First Seafarer Question

I had a Seafarer for 10 years..'92 SeaV2 hull. It and any boat in the 20 ft range is going to slap and sometimes pound in 2 footers if you're on plane. A tight 2 ft sea state slaps my 30 ft Marlin around somewhat. We get into a whole other subject here regarding people's over-estimation of wave...

    NJ fishing reports

Wow; look at that tidal current on those bridge abutments in the background. We would get those currents in the cuts between the Keys, but nothing like that around Ft Myers. What's your tidal range there? Forgive me for not talking about fish-I'm just curious.

    30 Marlin generator replacement

Not a totally relevant answer, but I have the 4100 (maybe 4200?) Panda Diesel in my 2018 Marlin and love it. If mine bit it, I would install another in a minute.

    Looking to purchase 2005/2006 Gulfstream

Family: Now your making me have to think.... I had 6cyl F200's remember, heavier than 150's. Overnight bags, food, 80 quart coolers etc. 10 bags of ice in the port livewell and enough Mt Dews for a year or so... Full fuel Trailer was steel and a tandem with 7K axles-2 spares mounted with rims...

    30’ Marlin height.

Obviously check, but I recall tidal range in Cape Coral range from 1.5 feet to 2 on a normal cycle. Exceptions include: 1.) Strong SW to S to W to NW onshore winds over a longer-than-normal duration causing (usually) minor rises in water levels. 2.) Full-Moon cycles. 3.) During winter months...

    Looking to purchase 2005/2006 Gulfstream

I had a 2007 Gulfstream for 10 years with twin F200's. It's a great boat. I slept overnight, took it to the Keys twice a year from Ft Myers, FL (180-185 miles) and trailered it everywhere. Loved it. 1.) I would NOT have that boat with a single engine. It planes much easier with twins, there's...

    30’ Marlin height.

My 2018 Marlin is roughly, and I emphasize "roughly" 10' 6." I've tried to measure it in the water and this is the best I could come up with. It has a hardtop, obviously, and a Garmin Dome. Mine would not go under an 8' 9" fixed bridge.

1999 Gulfstream with twin HPDI 200's on a factory Armstrong bracket.

camandke102: My son now owns the boat; I see it all the time. (You can view it in this months issue of Anchorline, Grady's quarterly Newsletter. I write for Grady on occasion, and they featured my story about moving to Michigan and taking our boats with us. Anyway, you can view both the...

1999 Gulfstream with twin HPDI 200's on a factory Armstrong bracket.

My 2007 Gulfstream had F200 (6 cyl) and my numbers were a somewhat lower than yours, but I had bottom paint. Not sure of the props, but they were the standard issue wheels that Grady put on the F200's for the Gulfstream. I have no clue what hole they were mounted either. They ran great so I...

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

And then there's Lake Michigan. During my ownership of my 1992 Seafarer, I misjudged the passage of a strong cold front as we motored down to Michigan City IN from New Buffalo MI for just a standard day on the water. These ports are in the SE corner of the Big Lake. Rain let up, skies cleared...

    YAMAHA 350 4 stroke

Bdsp: If the engine is a 2013, I would certainly have it checked out by a tech you trust. It is the problems of the earlier generation 350's that ultimately tainted their reputation, and probably caused them to be scrapped. I would be very wary of any early models, as I outlined in my answer...

    YAMAHA 350 4 stroke

Stang65fbk is correct; it's too much weight for the Seafarer, if that's the boat in question. Reliability/Perf? The 350C's, made from either 2017 or 2018 and newer are amazing. They are without question the finest outboard I have ever owned. I have them on my Marlin, and it is the PERFECT...

    Anchorline Story:

No Bail/Pointed Rose/Legend: Thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to read it. As mentioned, I thought Grady did a nice job of putting it together. It's neat to have the Marlin and my son's (my old) 232 Gulfstream on Lake Michigan. Short season? Sure, but being near family and not having a...

Boat envy, thinking about a new Marlin 300, have questions.

It is indeed both expensive & excessive, but it keeps the bottom clean. There would be no other option for me and that's why I don't do it. The bottom stays growth-free, I save some money and I don't have to worry about it. The convenience of having it in the water means nothing to me if the...

Boat envy, thinking about a new Marlin 300, have questions.

As per our phone talk: Overall it is not a good idea to leave it wet-slipped year 'round. if you have no dry storage option, or if your marina won't allow a lift in your slip, the following are maintenance steps I would absolutely take if it were my Marlin. 1.) Have it pulled every 2 weeks...
