    Wanted: adventure 208

Yeah, it's handy. Works for any site. I've bought a fair amount of expensive stuff off of craigslist. Got this tractor from a dude in Michigan, shopped for over a year before finding that one. It's a nice machine but they are crazy spendy new, like $75K. I got that for $45K with 300 hours...

Whats the best Grady of all time?

It's weird, some people love the 228 swim bracket and some people hate it. So far, I love it. Yeah, it can push you around a bit in a following sea but I grep up ice covered roads in Wisconsin, I don't pucker up if I start to drift. The following sea pushing you feels a lot like a drift. But...

Whats the best Grady of all time?

That's a lot of Gradys. Says a lot that you keep coming back. I'm brand new and I think my 228 is the last boat I'll ever own. Who knows? Maybe I'll go bigger some day. Cool to see your progression. From what I've seen people really like the sailfish models, why is that?

Whats the best Grady of all time?

It's big enough to handle some snotty ocean and small enough that it is easy to trailer. If I were in a slip (and made of money) I'd probably want a Marlin 300, that's a sweet sled. But I would not want to trailer it. Just depends on your wants/constraints. I'm super happy with my 228.

    Any New Zealand owners here?

Lots of smoke and ash but so far, we're good. Thanks for thinking of us. New Zealand would be an upgrade, I'll admit while I love where I live, I do not enjoy the constant fear of getting burned out. That said, we are pretty prepped, lots of water stored, fire pump set up that is key start so...

    Any New Zealand owners here?

Yes you do and I notice. There are people here who are always helpful and you are one of them. If I don't give you enough credit, my bad. Doubly so if your username is about a WRX, I have one of those, it replaced a porsche. Love my WRX. I don't know how to say this properly, but I love...

    Any New Zealand owners here?

I'm with Mr Bloodweiser on this one (such a great handle, fish and beer, brilliant). I think if we ignore the haters and don't give them attention, instead have the conversations as if they were not there, we keep this site civil. I also think if we treat people the way that we want them to...

Need advice on buying a Grady

I'm loving mine. How do you fish 5 guys? Does that include you? In my mind, if I am not fishing, mine is good for 4 guys at the corners of the cockpit. If I have kids, at least one could fish up front but it is not ideal, I'm on the pacific and salmon, halibut, some lings, they all want a...

    New member - big question

I don't understand this, don't you want to know the ground to hard top distance? You aren't taking the boat off the trailer, right? I would think that you'd want the trailer on the tow vehicle and then find the highest point and measure to ground from there.

    New member - big question

My 228 is about 12 feet, I have a radar on top of the hard top, so if you forgo that you might be closer to 11'4". If you want an exact number, I'll go get a level and get you one.

The deck covering - where to get it, how much, is it worth it?

I think this is the advice I was looking for. Thanks.

A few hours on the water.

Congrats on getting her dialed in. Good looking dog, here's my tired pupper, we have ebikes and we cranked it to the highest setting and went 2.5 miles at full speed. Rocky was just looking at me like "that's it, I'm done" so my younger son put him in the basket and off we went. 85 pound...

Whats the best Grady of all time?

My dealer told me they sell more 228s than all other models combined. I don't know if that is Grady's numbers or just that dealer. I suspect just that dealer because the 208 and the 228 are the only models I've ever seen there.

The deck covering - where to get it, how much, is it worth it?

Take a look here: I've seen that dark deck covering before and I kinda like the look. If you have that stuff, does it make the deck look cleaner? The white deck means any dirt makes the deck look like crap. How much does that cost? Is it more or less grippy when you walk on it? If I'm nuts...

Whats the best Grady of all time?

I have no idea. I absolutely adore my 228 but that's the only Grady I've ever been on. I suspect if I got on Shannon's 300 I'd be a size queen

    Any New Zealand owners here?

Amen to your first sentence. I'm on a mailing list in the Santa Cruz mountains, covers the 95033 zipcode, and they would have shut down this immediately, it's why I was hesitant to bring it up, I'm still new here and learning what is OK and what is not. And thanks to people being reasonable...

    Any New Zealand owners here?

I think I am thinking carefully but you guys are beyond useful in second guessing stuff. Anyone who is a captain is careful. So second guess me please. This is way off topic, if the people who run this site say this was not cool, I will never discuss this stuff again. I want to be a good...

    Prop Question

I re-propped recently, people here and THT and coastside said talk to Ken Reeves <kr@propgods.com> 941 735 5808 He bumped from 3 to 4 blades and changed some other stuff. I was trying to lift the stern a bit more and stay on plane at slower speeds. I've picked my days so the two trips since I...

    Any New Zealand owners here?

I'll avoid discussing politics but if things go wrong, we might be looking to leave the country. Exploring the idea of New Zealand and wanting to talk to people who are there. Obviously, my 228 would come with, seems perfect for local waters. Be a bummer to not get salmon but yellowtail and...

2 boat launch in Santa Cruz

The next couple of days are 3@9, that's as flat as it gets. Anyone want to do a multi boat launch?
