Says who? I've built dozens of bow pulpits out of two pieces of 3/4" starboard doubled up. Plenty strong. They don't crack, split, fade or require any up keep at all.

Why don't you just have someone make one for you out of starboard :mrgreen: . You won't have to patch anything ever.

I say try to fix it yourself. Starboard would need to be reinforced from underneath with that size of a piece. This is a great project to learn how to do glasswork because it won't require you to have a nice finish as it will be underneath the floor and you won't have to look at it. I say go...

I think Im going to try and split the distance between where it currently is and the bracket, and mount it further down. Really my only option I guess.

I'd have to go take a look the boats in the water, but I'm pretty sure I mounted it so its hanging down right by the horizontal part of the chine. It's pretty much installed where the trim tab would be installed if the boat had them. Only thing I can think of is to mount it lower/more inward...

Oil pressure will decrease idling after a hard run because of the change in viscosity of the oil due to temperature. Like mentioned above, after idling for awhile oil temp will decrease making it "thicker" in a sense and oil pressure should increase/ be higher. This is also why some people...

Only thing I know is to keep sanding/oiling it or get a few coats of varnish on it. That or replace it with starboard!
