    Re Power

If the hull is old enough to have come with an Ocean Pro, would the transom be compromised with a heavier 4 stroke engine? That's been a concern when folks repower an older twin engine Grady.

    Bottom Paint Performance Question:

Joez: Once you bottom painted your 226, did you have to go under and wipe it down during the course of your summer, or did the paint keep the growth from accumulating all by itself? Good news on not losing any performance with the paint. Again, the stories i got were that it would noticeably...

    Trailer sizing for Gulfstream

I trailered a Gulfstream for 10 years; Michigan to Fla, Ky, etc. The boat had twin 200's and with full fuel, ice & gear it was 10,100 lbs on the Cat Scale at the truck stop. This is boat & trailer. Yours will be lighter, but, as Dennis says, make sure your figures are accurate based on your...

    Check this out!

This is nothing but cool. A Marlin with 425's. I'm jealous. Hope that transom is strengthened a bit....

    Bottom Paint Performance Question:

Seasick/Ron: Thanks for your input, as always. If it becomes necessary to paint, I would, as mentioned, use hi-quality paint and would certainly make sure no growth occurs. Interesting that there would be little performance difference. I have heard of 2-3 MPH getting knocked off, but that may...

    Bottom Paint Performance Question:

Don't know much about this so... Circumstances may require me to paint the bottom of my 2018 Marlin. Situation unfolding.... If I do, what kind of performance and fuel burn hit will I take if I get the best kick-butt diamonds and gold bottom paint out there? The boat currently is ceramic...

New to Grady Whites: my 232 Gulfstream

hoon: That's a great story; To be able to accomplish that while treading water is a feat! Kietha; The thread did go a little far afield; please don't take it in a bad way..one thing leads to another and all of a sudden we're planing boats off with one engine instead of discussing Gulfstreams...

New to Grady Whites: my 232 Gulfstream

wrxhoon: I would do the same. I put Sea Tow out there as an option, but idling back in on one would be the first choice. Changing props while adrift is not in the cards for me. I would invariably drop a wrench, the prop itself, or the fastening nut and none of those items float.

New to Grady Whites: my 232 Gulfstream

No firsthand experience, but I have heard that trying to plane a twin engine boat with just one engine can overstrain it. I had a Gulfstream with twin 200's and currently own a Marlin with twin 350's. Under no circumstances would I attempt to plane either boat off with one engine. I would...

    Cleaning Her Up

RE: Cabins: I am in Florida so my biggest ally is a dehumidifier. I run one 24/7 when the boat is not in use. Instead of constantly running shore power, I run an extension cord from the outlet on my finger pier to the unit. The clear tubing that comes with it is routed into the galley sink so...

    Thinking Gulfstream

Yes it will. I have owned both, so I can definitively say the 232 is a better riding boat. I would not characterize it as a "night and day" difference, but it is obviously a better and smoother ride. I noticed it immediately the first time I took my 232 into Lake Erie around the Islands on...

    what would you do?

wspitler: I thought of mentioned the ceramic coating, but I had my ceramic coated Marlin in Michigan all last summer in clean water,(colder than Fontana) and every 4 days a "film" that I could feel with my fingertips started to form. I found no difference in the ceramic coat vs the bare hull...

    Thinking Gulfstream

I had my 232 for 10 years. Mine was a 2007 model with twin 200's. I prefer them over the 150's but will likely be harder to find. Boat would cruise easily between 30-33 MPH. Revved between 3600 and 4100 RPM, attaining 1.9-2.0 MPG (My son owns the boat now, he removed the bottom paint I had on...
