    Sorry I haven't been posting

Beautiful area for sure. I would indeed enjoy a visit, but travelling under current circumstances is scary to me. Worrying about hotels, increased interaction with people, and going into public places would zap the fun out of it. In a normal world, I'd try to figure it out. I felt bad about...

    Sorry I haven't been posting

Hey, no need to apologize; you should be able to state your case. I guess this means no visit and no fishing trip for me.... What is involved in moving to New Zealand?

Stay Safe; Glad your OK! When you say "Go," do you mean temporarily get away from the fires or actually move & re-locate?

Question about fuel tank usage on 300 Marlin

I run down both tanks at the same time and fill both at the same time. This way, the boat doesn't start listing as it would if the tanks were drawn down separately. It's worked perfectly in the two years I've owned my Marlin. No fuel-oriented problems so far.

    The Latest On Yam 350's:

mr _mbuna: I think that's entirely possible. I capped my optimism at 10 years trying to be realistic in salt water operation, but, like yourself, I have seen many specimens outlast that time frame. Here's To Longevity.... Touching on fuel burn for a moment: Pushing my Marlin, I get 1.3-1.4...

    Hanging out at Lake Erie

Trap: I went from: 5 hrs to State Dock in Lake Cumberland 6 hrs to Portage Lake, Michigan 5 1/2 hrs to Sandusky Bay, Lake Erie 2 frickin' days to The Keys To: 200 feet across thick bladed Fla grass to my lift. I am truly blessed and grateful.

Twin 300's: That's why there are choices and why we have these forums to broaden knowledge. To me, Suzuki & Yamaha are Honda & Toyota in the automotive field. Both good products. I happen to be Yamaha-loyal. They have never let me down, (with the exception of my '94 250 on my '92 Seafarer.)...

    Hanging out at Lake Erie

OK. We used to anchor regularly in that huge cove on the North Shore of Kellys. Good protection in any thing but a N or NE wind. Glad to see your boating. The seasons winding down, as you know. Did you get your skeg fixed?

    350 Yamaha outboards

Grady fun 5: Read my post entitled "The Latest On Yam 350's." I have no firsthand experience with prior models, but my 2018's have been great. So far, flawless after 240 hrs. The flywheel change is no big deal, I've had two swapped out already, free of charge as per Yamaha's agreement.

    The Latest On Yam 350's:

True enough: That is an option, although I'm banking on 10-11 years of trouble-free operation, which is what most new Yamahas will provide, given reasonable care and proper maintenance. This isn't a given, but it's not unreasonable to expect it. By then, I'm in my mid-to-late 70's and a...

    Wildfire Destruction

Joining the others in expressing my sorrow at such a devastating loss. As time passes, your path forward will present itself. I agree with Ky Grady and Parthery: I think shrink wrap is the way to go. It's kind of a pain to remove I'm told, but better than what will bombast it over a long haul...

    The Latest On Yam 350's:

Thanks Ron: All is going fine given the weird world we live in at the moment. Hope your doing well, also. RE: Flywheels: No problems at all with mine. 240 hrs and flawless operation. (Knocking on wood..) I've had a couple flywheels replaced and it's not a big job. Once, I was able to coincide...

    The Latest On Yam 350's:

For Those Interested In The Evolution Of The Yamaha 350's.... A few months ago, I read that the Yamaha 350's were being discontinued. I called Yamaha and they said, no, they were still being featured in the lineup. The other day, I was idly looking at the Grady Website; I noticed there were no...

    Diesel Generator Question

To The Good Doctor: I have the same FP unit. My diesel tech who services my unit recommended Sentry Diesel Plus Treatment. Marine/50 Formula. (Little bottle with green front.) 8 fl oz treats up to 50 gallons. (It says over treatment is not harmful on the bottle; I pour roughly 25% of the...

    Gulfstream Hull Changes

Your correct in your assessments & plans: A 3/4 would pull it in fine form. Gas? Your 10 MPG or lower. Diesel? 11-13 most likely. 150's are a good combo, 200's are better. MIne got me a 30 MPH cruise at 2.0 MPG, revving approx 3700-3800 RPM. Twins are a wise choice on that widebody hull...

    Gulfstream Hull Changes

Great story! I'm confused about one thing; Are you going to keep the MFG after you get your Gulfstream? I'm assuming so, although you said "upgrade," so I wasn't sure. I relate; I would buy my old one back if it still even exists. Good luck in your Gulfstream quest: You mention trailering-...

    Freedom 235 towing capacity

Some Thoughts for your towing needs. 1.) I have never been in a situation where I wished I had less power, either on a boat or tow vehicle. If you get a truck that struggles, your stuck with it unless you go thru the hassle of trading it, etc. 2.) Things change. You may find your Horizons...

    Freedom 235 towing capacity

Parth: I have tried to rent a pickup a couple times and they would not rent me the truck if I was going to use it for towing. Is the Commercial Division different? If so, it would come in handy for me from time-to-time and maybe for StevieFrompa as well.
