    Upgrade to 8" deckplates?

Was thinking about ordering replacements deckplates for my 227 yesterday and then remembered that I have 5 brand new 8" ivory ones sitting in the basement. I incorrectly ordered those for my old Sailfish like 5 years ago....measured the wrong part of the existing deckplates... :-| Anyway...

    what truck to buy?

When did this become THT??? A 3/4-ton diesel is not needed to pull 5000 lbs. I pulled my old 204 all over the place with a Jeep Cherokee and not once did it fail to perform.

Do a search for "F225 exhaust corrosion". Hopefully that's not your problem, but it's something to check on.

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

You should be able to find a solid, used 200 - 225 OX66 for under well $5000. I would go that route before I spent $8K on a powerhead...

Where is the water sensor located? If it's in the VST tank or a separate enging mounted water separator tank, have you drained those yet?

    fuel restriction problem

Time to give some serious thought to replacing your tanks. At least pull them for inspection.

    Eisenglass restoration.

210 is awesome stuff. I used the scratch remover and cleaner/polish on my old '93 Sailfish curtains and it made them like new. Applied the scratch remover w/ a power buffer and did the polish by hand.

Chronic fuel flow issues - SOLVED

Re: Chronic fuel flow issues - please help before I go crazy Don't ream too hard. If you have significant corrosion on the bottom of the tank under the pickup tube, you could punch a hole in it. I still think you should bite the bullet and replace the tank. At the very least drain it and...

Chronic fuel flow issues - SOLVED

Re: Chronic fuel flow issues - please help before I go crazy Drain the tank, pull it out, take it to a recycler and let them give you $30 or so for it. Spend the $30 on beer. You'll need it when you go to install your NEW tank. Seriously, if you are still running on the original tank, you...

    inspection plates

Make sure the o-rings are for the correct manufacturer. Grady used to use deckplates from Tempress. I'm not sure what they use now, but if you dealer gave you ones for Beckson or someone else, the o-rings might not be exactly the right size.

what h.p.2 repower seafarer outboard on bracket

Sounds to me like your motor was just tired. A healthy 225 should be plenty for that hull/load. With a v6 Merc my old 204 would jump out of the hole with a full load of fuel, 3 adults and gear for an offshore trip.

    1986 Seafarer 227: 5/6/14 Update - Stringer extension prep

Re: 1986 Seafarer 227 Repairs, Updates and Upgrades Thanks man. :) Not really loving working on this one though. Thought I would have it in the water a month ago and I'm no where near that. I definitely should have just hollowed out that bulkhead with my chainsaw and then poured it full...

    1986 Seafarer 227: 5/6/14 Update - Stringer extension prep

Re: 1986 Seafarer 227 Repairs, Updates and Upgrades Not much has been happening w/ the boat lately. Mostly just taking delivery of various parts...fuel tank, fish box drains, battery switch, etc. I did do a bit of grinding in preparation for the new aft bulkead for the fuel tank compartment...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

If your stringers were bad that far forward, they are bad under the cabin and need to be replaced. Gelcoating isn't hard, and it's silly to let fear of finsih work hold you back at this point in the game. Get your saw/grinder out, have a beer and go to town! You could always PULL THE CAP...
