    Moving Boat Forward on Trailer

I moved my bunks forward and my winch post as well to get the proper tongue load. It can be done. I had ordered a new trailer that was setup for a standard Seafarer. But, I made a bunch of mods and added a Verado to the tail....thus my weight distribution was unknown. I jacked boat up...

On My Way Down The Internet Rabbit Hole.

I repowered my Seafarer last year. Had a 225 Yamaha on it previously. I dug into the forums for Yamaha, Evinrude, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, etc. I didn't find anything that turned me away from any of the models in particular. Yes, there were some trends on certain years of certain models...

Any do it your selfer out there

Thanks for sharing this. I am actually investigating how to remove my current windows and frames...and make new ones that extend higher. I catch the frame right in my field of vision when running. Nice job!

    Seafarer 226 or 228

I switched to 4 blade on my Verado and it does provide more lift.

    Seafarer 226 or 228

I have a 226 that I converted to 228 (enclosed the transom and added bracket and repowered with 300 Verado). I run on Lake Erie which has short period between waves. It's nasty. Been in 5' waves and felt secure. I have not had a problem with slowing down. I'd have to be next to a 226 to...

Tournament 225: To Restore or Replace

My Dad is a machine. 69 years old. Born in Germany. Immigrated. Served in Vietnam as SeaBee. Owned a construction firm. An amazing guy. He instilled a lot of confidence in me (and my sister) that probably drives our spouses nuts...LOL! We tackle big things with gusto....things others...

When did you get your first Grady-White?

She's a beauty Ky Grady! Growing up, I spent time on Lake Erie with my parents. Started with a Tiara Pursuit 25 and they then moved up to a Luhrs 34 Convertible. After college, I spent time working on my career. Got a small aluminum boat and hit a reservoir here and there. But my boating...

    Transom modification options

I imagine you could go single 350 with your boat. The Verado 350 is the same motor I have but with enhancements to supercharging system. I am tickled with the Verado. At the launch, I get to hear Yamaha, Suzuki and others firing up. I fire up, and people have commented they cannot believe my...

    Transom modification options

I had the boat on the trailer - bunk trailer. We cut away the gunnel a couple feet forward of the transom on each side. Pulled that off and kept. Then, I scribed a line down each side and across the deck and up the other side. Used a vibratory (ultrasonic) rockwell tool with sharp blade...

    Transom modification options

On the port side, I saw some softness where they had drilled some holes/had mounted items. I cut it out. I then refilled with epoxy. When I cut out the transom I had to cut the stringers back as well to gain access. So, those pieces I cut out - I cleaned them up. Filled them in with epoxy...

    Transom modification options

I enclosed my seafarer. 1984 model. Added a custom floatation bracket from Custom Marine Welding and hung a brand new Mercury Verado 300 with Vesselview and power steering. I am tickled. Boat has a TON of cockpit space...I gained a bunch by enclosing the transom. And, much more secure...

Tournament 225: To Restore or Replace

I purchased a 1984 226 Seafarer for $2800 in 2017. Motor was blown. I started digging and decided to go all in and restore it. I loved the layout of the boat before, but wasn't keen on the cut out transom. So....we redid the transom and fully enclosed it. Then, did a total redo on: wiring...

On Board Battery Charger, Seafarer 226

I installed a GUEST 2711A 10 amp 2 bank charger. It has worked flawlessly for me. ~$110 I think. I mounted in the port rear compartment of my Seafarer. Installed a plug through the wall into the cockpit area so I just pull into the garage and plug in an extension cord.

    24' offshore repower yamaha 250 vs 300?

I'd go with the 300. I have a Seafarer and enclosed the transom, added a Custom Marine Welding Bracket(customized with added buoyancy), and put on a new 300 Verado. Check out my videos on youtube for the work done. It turned out fantastic and I am tickled with the performance...

    Transom trouble

In case you're curious about the process, there are some videos out there. I used Coosa board when I replaced my transom and made the notched transom into a full height. I have a couple thousand in materials I think. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCATvLuuBWqIPmRX0gH9FiMQ/videos You...

1983 240 offshore-replacing rotton core transom and modifying/raising to accomadate twin f150 yamahas

He has some pictures. It's pretty low. If it were mine, I'd fully enclose the transom (make gunnel straight across), get a custom flotation bracket, and either put on the 150s or consider a single Mercury 350 Verado or something comparable. I like twins, but fishing around them (especially if...

New Windshield - Ideas for frame???

Thanks for all the feedback. I want the glass higher and frame out of view when standing. I don't tend to sit down that much when running. I like better angle to look at the water. I have seen the heavier versions of isinglass. It's worth considering, but doesn't address the frame in my...

1983 240 offshore-replacing rotton core transom and modifying/raising to accomadate twin f150 yamahas

Well, I really liked the boat. I bought it for $2800. It had a blown motor, but the boat size and usability had my attention. When I got it home, I realized it needed more than some elbow grease. I started with fuel tank inspection (it was pitted) and then looked at transom...came on this...

1983 240 offshore-replacing rotton core transom and modifying/raising to accomadate twin f150 yamahas

I recently did this project for my 1984 Seafarer. It was a chore, but turned out fantastic. I am not a fiberglass guy...my day job is plastics engineering. But, I just loved the boat style and wanted to restore it and started watching videos and reading about how people do this kind of...
