Are you using coosa board for the repair? I redid my transom in 2017. It was a heck of a project, but turned out great. I ended up eliminating the cutout transom and moving to full height and adding a bracket. Love it now!

I put a 2018 Mercury Verado 300 on mine. I redid the transom and added a flotation bracket. I think you'll find some great 4 strokes out there that are a bit lighter. My boat sits perfectly with this motor on it. I love it.

I have used some acetone. I was wondering if there was something a little easier on gelcoat that still removed the glue/adhesive. May try the WD40 and the 3M adhesive remover. Thanks!

I am removing striping from mine. It appears some sections had old-original striping under "newer" striping. I was able to use a heat gun and remove 1/2 the striping and lettering in 20 minutes. Still have starboard side to do. There is a sticky residue left and it's different in consistency...
