New Windshield - Ideas for frame???

Thanks for all the replies. I'll share some of my thoughts: - Why do this to a 34 year old boat? I recently restored it. All new everything essentially. I love the design and it's solid (new transom, new wiring, new plumbing, new motor, etc.). I don't think there's a boat out there made...

New Windshield - Ideas for frame???

Hi all. I am looking to redo the windshield on my 1984 Seafarer. I don't have broken glass or otherwise....but the top of the window frame is directly in my line of site when running. So, I was thinking of fabricating a totally new windshield assembly (sides and fronts) with TALLER windows...

    2006 228 through transducer

I have a 1984 model. I have a hatch in the rear of the boat on center. I installed a large thru hull transducer on center in front of wash down intake. See my video at about 4:20

I repowered my Seafarer from 2 stroke Yamaha to Mercury 300 Verado L6. Full helm to stern re-do. Tickled with performance.

    Why a Grady?

There are a lot of great boats out there. I found my Grady and restored it. I see you mention 6" of water....I am really not sure you're going to find anything drafting that little that will move forward and be the size you want. I love that GW's have a nice flare to the hull. My small 22...

    36express/3verdo350's

I repowered with a Verado. I am tickled with it. Power steering, Vessel view control, DTS....silky smooth, quiet, and incredible punch with the supercharger. 2.76 mpg at 28-30 mph cruise and 48 mph with hard top, 5/8 fuel, all gear, and 4 people. Not too shabby! This is on a seafarer...

    228 performance

1984 With 2018 Verado 300 (I6 Model). I am at 48 mph with a little over half fuel, hard top, curtains up, 3 people and full gear. I am running a 4 blade, 17P Rev 4 prop. I backed down from a 19P 3 blade to get the RPM in the sweet spot. My cruise is 2.7 mpg at 28-31 mph....

    Just bought 1993 Seafarer

That threaded rod does hold down the cleat. It seems someone was using it as a safety in the event they let out all the anchor line. It is sturdy. If you rip it off....I think the front of the boats coming off with it...or big chunks... :)

Tandem or TriAxle Trailer for 272 Sailfish?

If you get with the right trailer guys, they will already have experience with setting up a trailer for that hull. I bought mine from a place in Norfolk VA and they had it setup for my boat. It was built for my hull. I had to make some tweaks based on modifications I've made to the...

    Just bought 1993 Seafarer

Congratulations. I bought an earlier vintage (1984) and have been restoring it. Purchased 6/2017 and sea trialed in 6/2018. I redid all wiring, thru hulls, fuel, etc. Redid transom. Added bracket. I really love the seafarer. I believe yours has the SV2 hull. I went with a 300 Verado. I...

Making 24 offshore open transom safer offshore...

Your boat is bigger than mine, and I enclosed my transom and added a bracket with one of the heavier 4 strokes (300 HP Verado I6). Everything turned out exceptional. If you want me to link to some videos and what I did, I can share. I had the flotation bracket customized to add additional...

    Verado on Seafarer?

Ok...providing an update. I've been extremely pleased with the Verado. So many compliments on how smooth and quiet it is. Was pulling out of the launch and a lady (yep...gotta love when the ladies notice) says "I can't believe how quiet that motor is." I said "You have a Mercury on your...

    Possible Re-power 07 Marlin

I repowered my Seafarer with a Verado inline 6 supercharged 300. One of the last of that motor (installed May of this year). I looked at all the motors. Can't really say anything bad about any of them. I was down to Honda (250), Yamaha (250 or 300) or Mercury (250 or 300). I liked the idea...

    Bought a 1987 226 Seafarer!

Looking good! I didn't realize it had twins. Keep up the good work. Nice to see another restoration of a great older model boat. Mine is a 1984. I've documented on youtube.

    New fuel tanks!!!

I replaced my tank. I called several places. For my location and shipping, Patriot Marine Fabricating in NJ had the best price. Quality was excellent. He builds Grady Tanks. He's certified for marine fuel tanks, tests them and includes sending unit. I was very happy. All others seemed to...

Finally on Lake Erie. (More) Pictures Included

Re: Finally on Lake Erie. Pictures Included Nice! Lake Erie is tough. Very short period typically so it leave a lot of "potholes" in the water. You can be in 3'-4' chop and there's no apparent back side to them and you slam. Definitely not the ocean...where you can run up a large wave and...

    Transom rebuild/repower

Also, I troll on Lake Erie for walleye and trout. Fishing around the motor is a non issue. I too was concerned, but it's a not an issue. I run down riggers, Dipsy rods off each side, and then 3 planer board lines off each side. 10 rods on a 22' boat and it works great. Really happy. I...

    Transom rebuild/repower

Jason...I just did this to my seafarer. I had the cutout transom. I added a bracket from Custom Marine Welding and it is fantastic and was more cost effective than Armstrong. I have posted several videos of what I did. I used COOSA board, 1708 fabric, and West System epoxy. It turned out...
