Hey BB:
The new 1/2 's have a higher tow rating than the older trucks. At 9200lbs, your kinda on the edge, but I would consider it, given your situation..
1.) This is KEY: Make sure your trailer is overbuilt. I have said this on many occasions. My 232 had a tandem with 7000lb axles & electric...
One more thought..If your 250's are 2 stroke, such as OX 66's, your mileage could be less, 1.0 to 1.1, I'm guessing. I've never owned OX 66's but the consensus here is that A.) They're bulletproof. B.) If they're maintained, they're hard to kill.
I have never heard of a Marlin 28; Only 30's. Not saying yours isn't; Just new to me.
My Marlin 300 has 19" props and 350's. I get 1.3 to 1.5 MPG between 3500 and 4000 RPM running between 31 and 36 MPH cruise.
What is "terrible on gas?"? (All boats have terrible mileage when you really think...
Perfect. We've spent the last 14 Januarys there. Not a lot of beaches, but the reefs that parallel the island chain on the Hawk Channel side are marvelous. Just pick up a mooring ball and your done. Sombrero is close and Looe Key (off Big Pine) is a great snorkeling spot, although it's a long...
So...Now that your back and have processed the trip, how did the Sarasota area stack against other Fla vacation spots for you?
I realize the trim problem was a negative, but I was wondering if Sarasota would be considered for a return trip in the future?
Nice shots, as usual. They've lit up...
Did I read correctly that you departed at 2:20AM? When did you get out of bed? Did you even go to sleep?
I'm lucky to get underway by 7:30AM when I do a run to the Keys from my home port.
This is inconceivable to me...Don't fish bite in the afternoon?
Travel safe & enjoy; as stated above, the boat looks great!
RE: Covid; I would consider having gloves in the truck and donning them whenever you fuel either the truck or the boat. Fuel dispensers are touched by many hands that are attached to people who don't care. Otherwise, leave off hugging...
So the growth in the pics is the result of the boat sitting in the water for how long?
You wrote in your opener it sat for two weeks, but I assume you mean it sat in the slip without running.
I'd be interested to know how much time it took for that much marine growth to accumulate.
As everyone has said, great shots! Happy for you & your family.
2 Questions:
1.) The reef light shot: Sombrero or Carysfort?
2.) I see the Tenn River shot..Did you get to run the stretch between Chattanooga & Chickamunga? The bluffs falling sheer to the river is spectacular; like the Grand...
The engine covers are on the outboards, are they not?
I'm curious why you would run with them on?
Looks like the Atlantic was in a decent mood for your trip. Doesn't look like anything over 2 footers in your shots looking aft.
