    Lake Ontario July 2020

Yes KYGrady it did well, helps to have a heavy boat, would’ve been nice with a few extra feet of length, depth and beam but it did good. Amongst the other boats it was smallest as we were 8 miles to the nearest shore for most of the time (13 mikes from the launch). A few times it got bumpy...

    Lake Ontario July 2020

we ended up with one Steelhead Trout and five King Salmon (largest 20#), so not too bad for a few yahoos pretending to be fishermen....o_O After 1045 miles of trailering, 120 miles OTW traveling, 19 hrs of kicker trolling.......I was beat and had to return to work to get some rest ;) Hoping to...

    Lake Ontario July 2020

This past week I got my chance again to chase the Lake-O-the-Giants........what an awesome trip this week. Met up with a few friends to match wits with some of the most challenging fish to ever grace the inside of our fish box. Headed out west to Lake-Ontario on Sunday pulling my 19’...

    Yamaha F225s got the corrosion...

Not on that exact motor but I’ve been alum welding for over 30 yrs (other things too). The aluminum alloy they use on outboards is nice to weld after the corroded areas are ground off. I welded up spots on a 200hp 2-smoke last summer (battle damage from powerhead removal), came out nice

    Replace trim

I agree with above comments, take it apart and determine what’s wrong. If nothing else is obvious send it to someone familiar. The links to the repair shops look like a good alternative to new replacement. Lots of marine mechanics in my area are quick to replace trim unit without trying to...

    Yamaha F225s got the corrosion...

Definitely weld them up, it’ll buy you some time to figure out a future powerhead rebuild/exchange or repower without being backed against the wall. If you were closer I’d volunteer to weld them. Not that difficult of a job with the right person and equipment.

    Transom repair - need advice

A couple years ago I pulled my bang cap, cleaned and regooped with plenty of 5200. Regretting it now as I had my motor hanging on a hoist, I took the lazy way out. Only good thing was my transom was dry and solid but I should have glassed and fixed it right.
