    Gulfstream deck panel repair

A deck should have a bit of camber. I haven't put a straight edge on the Grady but I would assume there is some. The transom on my Grady was some what straight. When I added the new bracket there was a little more filling on each end. When I did the Mako I built the camber into the stringer...

The large sheets will deform the glass too. The glass would take on the shape of the wood with the right pressure. When you do a transom you can sometime see this when you start the fairing process on the glass skin.

The idea of the pieces is so that if you get water penetration it will help isolate it. Also, it will contour the area a tad better. It's actually better if you can leave a gap around each piece that will be filled with your putty mix. I do most of my projects in FGCI 3:1 Epoxy. For thick...

    Buying a new polisher

Presta makes great stuff! I switched from 3m over to Presta a few years back. Their backing pads are really nice.

    Recommendation for compound product

I have used a bunch of different ones over the years, but most experience with the 3m stuff. Now this is my go to. Wet sand/Buff magic - restore Presta - normal oxidation removal Starbright polish with Collinite top coat - protect

    Buying a new polisher

I would go with a HF rotary and pickup the older Shurhold. I might have $150 for both. Unless you are doing it everyday the HF will work fine. The main issue is when you press down hard the HF slows the motor and the good units don't. I bought my Shurhold for about $100 on Amazon. Use the...

Had tank deck redone, big thanks to Crow's Nest Marina

They don't even take the time to do the squares properly. There should be a good slurry so if one square get wet they don't all get wet. I'm amazed there are as many of these boats still on the water.

    Sea Star leaking.

I made mine and haven't had any issues. I wish I would have done it earlier as its so nice being able to bleed by yourself.

    Trailer guides

Yep. Owens does a great job and is generally noted as one of the best in the SE. People come from all over for there craftsmanship and customer service.

    Trailer guides

I have a Owens and Son custom trailer and they use the PVC. With this trailer you only need them to help backup when the boat is off the trailer. A drunk 6 year old could power the boat on with a Owens.

    Bilge pump

A better setup would be a 800 and a 2000. Mount the 800 float about flat to the hull bottom and the 2000 on a 3/4"-1" pad. Only having 1 pump aft on a boat will always be a bad idea. The 800 will take most of the abuse and if any volume came in the 2000 kicks on. Flush the pumps with fresh...

Rolled the dice and I lost it seems.

These tanks will go quicker if there is stray current in the water. The carbon pads act as a conductor and attack the tank. On my little boat It's coal tar epoxied with a fish zinc routed to an area for inspection. This will be the route I go to when it's time to change the Grady tanks. I'm...

    New fuel tanks!!!

Coal Tar Epoxy is the best thing you can apply to the tank. That carbon rubber is a conductor and leads to rot.

    87' 240 Offshore

Agree with the above. If you have the original plastic thruhulls I wouldn't use it until you replace. Half mine fell apart as I replaced them. I would pop your inspection hatches or coffin lids for the fuel tanks. Check your the bilge pumps. You should have one fore/aft (I would add a...

    Is 300hp enough on a Freedom 255?

I'm still working on getting it the correct prop. I'm 45-45 at about 5500 on a 24.4. I would assume you would lose a little hole shot. Is there a 350 option?

Simrad GO size does it matter?

I like the idea of the tablet. It would be nice for someone fishing with you to has access. I hate when I'm rigging and my son is driving that I can't see a screen becuase of of the angle.
