    Replacement of my tow vehicle

Congratulations on the new truck. The pulling power of a 3.5 eco will be night and day better than your old truck. I tow my Islander with an 18 f150 3.5 eco with the max tow package. The brake controller is for travel trailer electric or boat electric over hydraulic brakes. You don't need the...

    New Boat questions

It all depends on the design intent. Do other 285's allow for the door to open when the bench seat is down? If so, then yes it should be addressed. If not, put the bench seat down before you open the door and the problem goes away.

    SCAMMED

Unfortunately there are always an a-hole or 2 that ruin it for everyone. Life is tough. I always try to be polite, but when it comes to financial transactions I've learned the legit people don't mind you asking uncomfortable questions. Selling my engines was a cash deal. When the buyer showed...

Last outing with my trusty 3.3 F225!

Damn. I thought waiting 2.5 months for mine was bad!

    What does this screw do?

Too bad My Wedge doesn't design around that. Here is an image right off Amazon. Notice anything??;)

    What does this screw do?

Seasick is correct. Mine had the same. If you use a Mywedge engine support, you can't place it on the right side of the tilt/trim unit without shearing the zerk/ground off. The PO of my boat warned me. To prevent me and my crew from doing the same I took a larger marker and wrote "Left" on both...

    Yikes! How did that happen?

    Loose steering wheel

I looked into one a few years ago for my 99 Voyager. The shop who had it was confident it would fit my helm, but I was not. I ended up passing on it and sold the boat. I wouldn't buy one without a guarantee that it could be returned for a full refund.

    Loose steering wheel

You can buy a replacement tilt assembly. Not cheap, but it is supposed to be an improved redesign.

Voyager vs Islander hatch and door sizes

How soon do you need measurements? I know I can get you something by Friday. Mine is a 2005, but I don't think the doors changed.

    268 Islander: New to forum

Correct. The Merc's actually weigh less than some of the 2 strokes that were available for the 268. The Zukes are a bit heavier. The 270 was designed for up to 500 HP from the the tubby 3.3 f250's. I'm hoping the df200 4 cylinders are the Goldilocks of the options for my use. I'll know soon.

    268 Islander: New to forum

My df200 ap's should be hung in the next couple weeks. I'll provide data as weather permits. The zukes are about 80 lbs heavier collectively than the Yamahas, but I welcome the weight in the 270 hull. If the 268 can't stand the weight, Merc 150's are a great option at 455 lbs, but are only...

    Proper sealants?

This should be a sticky IMO.

    268 Islander: New to forum

Search a little for 268 or Islander. A number of forum members have provided a lot of information on various Islander projects. Also check The Hull Truth for member rbarclay. He did extensive work on an Islander. His model had the 270 hull with the 268 top side. 2002 I think.

Repower Or Move On 306 GW

Congrats on the new power. You won't be disappointed. My twin df200ap's will be here in the next month. Christmas will be coming early for me this year!

Northern Ohio does anyone know where I can buy a top like this used? I picked up a 1984 257 pro that I need one for.

The Atlantic Towers option didn't work either eh? I don't know anything about the other boat you mentioned, but before you begin the surgery, be certain it will do what you want. While a hardtop on Lake Erie has it's benefits, the nasty chop and a lot of weight up high is a bad combination IMO...

    Advice on a 282 Sailfish

Have the thermostat housings checked for corrosion. That issue is just, if not more common than the exhaust, but is often overlooked. The fact that it was a moored boat would really make me want to see what they look like.

    Crappy situation - update!

Ding, ding, ding! Looks like the part was a float switch!

    Crappy situation - update!

Agreed. I think I'll just stick with the pump outs, but it would be nice to have the tank flushed before an overnight. I wondered about the float switch, but have no idea what they look like for this application.
