Do I suck or is it my boat?

No one is advising him to launch, but maybe he is a "hold my beer and watch this" kind of guy. Who would want to miss a 282 airing it out! I see Halfhitch's point. If a novis tried some of the agressive moves in the conditions the video was shot, they could end up with a handful of teeth or worse.

Do I suck or is it my boat?

I can definitely relate to that analogy.

Do I suck or is it my boat?

Love that video. The acting skills of the couple in the cc are impressive. Getting the absolute tar pounded out of them and they act calm and collected at the helm - with a death grip on the seat and wheel. The slow motion helps to hide violent jolt the bodies take on impact. J Russel, I'm sure...

Dodge ecodiesel for towing (and stopping) a 228?

I'd be most concerned about the lack of engine braking with the ecodiesel. Unless a diesel has an exhaust brake (I don't think the ecodiesel does) you practically free wheel down a hill relying on brakes only. I'd do your homework to understand that better. Despite their size, my 2.7 and 3.5...

Do I suck or is it my boat?

I have experienced the same in some conditions and had wondered if I was nuts. Yes, in some conditions with some hulls going faster can actually help.

Do I suck or is it my boat?

If you are having issues after 5 years, spending $ on instruction might help or at least validate what you already know. I've spent a lot of hours behind the wheel of 3 different GW boats and all 3 we're night and day different. I say this because unless the instructor has operated your boat...

Can a Marlin with twin 350s get on step with just one engine?

Like Magicalbill said. Not good for the engine. You can potentially get away with it on trips, but not twins. You wouldn't drive your car 30 miles with 2x the max tow rating with the pedal to the floor. Don't do it with your outboard unless it is an emergency.

    2018 275 Grady White Freedom

I figured there was an adjustment. It's just low on my priority list so I've calibrated my brain to make the adjustment instead!

    2018 275 Grady White Freedom

Look at your engine trim gages and set them equally, then look at you engines. My starboard engine always needs at least one more bar on the gage to be close to level with the port.

New 1996 Grady White Islander 268 with twin 200 V6 Mercs

I take it the screws had to be removed from the back side? Was the backing material for the the bolsters rotted? If so, what do you plan to replace them with?

    Higher Fuel Prices

The Navy is already electric. Prices have come down here about $0.80. They aren't giving it away, but it is a little easier to swallow. Regardless it won't stop me from enjoying a short and less congested season. Weather forecast looks amazing here. My kids will just have to live with inheriting...

    Higher Fuel Prices

Smokey, that's like 1800+ miles in a Seafarer. Are you starting the Great Loop from the keys? :) Regardless, I'm jealous but sincerely wish you a great trip. Keep us updated. One of these days I hope to pick your brain about keys excursions.

Fill the fuel tank or NOT

I don't know if the 300 is like the 270, but if it is, the boat rides better and is more stable with a full tank. On a long trip the improved ride in chop would be worth it. Be sure to take extra fuel filters and the tools to change them out. Since you don't fill your tanks often there is a...

    This boat is killin me!!

1 - Check your low pressure fuel pumps. 2 - Run a shock treatment to degunk and decarbon. 3 - Check the O2 sensor and passage. 4 - Check spark plugs to make sure a cylinder isn't running lean or one is very rich. If they are even, your injectors are likely fine and the issue lies upstream.

    This boat is killin me!!

Yup. Looks like all the signs of a neglected ox66. Once the kinks are worked out you will be happy with it, but till then, wrap your head in foam. Your head and the wall will be better off. That is a reliable engine when maintained but when it isn't you will be beating your head into the wall...

Just need to brag a minute.

I grew up in a neighborhood where all the guys busted their asses to get ahead. As a kid, I thought all guys were like that. Decades later with kids of my own, Ive realized most people don't have that drive. Thankfully your owner recognizes a person with passion and drive. Be appreciative of his...
