    Offshore surprise

Awhile back, I and a couple of buddies went out of Venice inlet on the SW Florida coast for some night snapper fishing in the GOM. We traveled to a spot we had been to before that is 34 miles from the jetty. We had been there several hours and a little after midnight a small bird tried to land...

It's not my fault. My initial response was a knee jerk reaction caused from the mind altering influence of the unending plethora of intellectual perfection exhibited on this site. I plead not guilty!

    Questions/concerns about possibly purchasing a 228 Seafarer...

Mustang....I think you are being more thoughtful than most about buying a boat that is just what you have been looking for. It's hard to show restraint. The fact that you live in Washington is a biggee. Having a good experience during the purchase is an important part of being proud of your...

    Questions/concerns about possibly purchasing a 228 Seafarer...

Maybe too late if you have obligated yourself by signing paperwork or making a cash deposit, but if not use the Florida registration number in the pictures and find the owner. He may be willing to make some adjustments due to the INOP items. Ingman marine in Port Charlotte is where I purchased a...

    fuel gauge

A zinc anode is less noble than the aluminum tank but for it to sacrifice itself to protect the tank it is attached to, both items must be submerged in an electrolyte. Seawater is a good one. In the air though the zinc can't become sacrificial because an electric charge can't envelope it. I...

    fuel gauge

Your last photo that shows the phillips head screw among the other hex head screws makes me think there should be a ground wire eyelet under that phillips screw. Were I, you, I would verify a good ground to the sender.

Twin engines will crank but not start unless both ignition switches in the on position

There's a lot about that system that I am not familiar with especially from afar like this. It is an intriguing problem though. I wish I could be of some help but it's over my pay grade a bit I'm afraid. When you finally work through it though and figure out the snag in the system, please get...

Twin engines will crank but not start unless both ignition switches in the on position

I am surprised that your dealer has come up short on this. To my way of thinking, if you don't have a start feature upstairs then all you need is a kill switch wired in parallel with the ones at the key switches. That one lanyard-pull kill switch will kill both engines and is your deadman...

First Time Timing Belt Change F250

When I first started trying to get my belt to start, I just put the belt on full engagement till I got to the one I was trying to finish on. No way I could do it. I wound up putting it on the crankshaft fully of course because it has guides top and bottom, but then on the others I just barely...

First Time Timing Belt Change F250

I just did mine a couple weeks ago. One thing that may help you. Fill a 5 gal bucket with hot water from your house water heater (120 to 140 degrees) and soak the belt for 10 min or so, keeping the water refreshed if it's still cold in Oregon. The extra flexibility may help. A heat lamp can...
