Anyone come up with tool to straighten anchors out?

The best tool to use is your credit card. :) Once the shank is bent and semi straightened it will bend even easier next time. If you know you will be anchoring in rock/rubble then a wreck anchor with straightenable tines is the way to go, but it won't hold squat in sand or mud. If you have a...

    Boat Insurance

I have Geico/BoatUS also. I chose them because of the agreed value coverage, the offshore distance coverage and the towboat coverage due to having a single engine craft.

I started digging through my stash and it turns out I have some stuff from a previous venture that is silicone based.

    Yamaha anodes

Thanks, Skunkboat, that's about how my anodes looked when I removed them. Funny you mention t-stats cause that's up next. Due to the years of sitting I have a timing belt on the way and will take care of the t-stats while doing the timing belt.

    Yamaha anodes

Good thought. I use a silicone grease on our pool equipment to protect the o-rings. The stuff you got for engines is probably a higher temp product. I'll check into that. Thanks KG

    Yamaha anodes

My 2006 F225 only has 103 hrs. but because of age (the motors, not mine), I pulled out the anodes to have a look. They are in ok shape, with little erosion. I bought new rubber grommets for installation. In the past on other yamahas I have found some serious corrosion around the zinc and the...

    Water pump on F250 4.2

I had a 2018, 4.2L F225 I bought new. I noticed from the very start that the pee stream was very weak. That being said though, it never did sound a heat alarm. Very soon Ky Grady is taking delivery on a new 4.2L F250 so he will have some insight soon.

    Cut, buff, wax.

I have a 7" Dewalt polisher that works good for the large exterior sections but for the interior liner I would be curious to know what is a good choice for small areas. The big 7" is not good for those tight areas and my hands start cramping after awhile. What's your favorite?

    Cut, buff, wax.

Ky Grady, Here you go again.......I still haven't got over seeing pictures of the inside of your shop area. I think I'm gonna need counciling to got rid of my guilt feelings every time I go out in my garage. Now I'm getting worried about seeing pictures of your fully detailed boat dancing in my...

    Prop nut quandary

I was going to remove the prop from a 2006 Yamaha F225. I say "was going to", because I got stumped. There is something that has been put in place of the standard castellated nut and cotter pin. I am guessing that it is some form of an anti-theft device. I can spin it with my fingers and it...

    Splicing anchor rode

Thanks wspliter and glacierbaze for the meaningful thoughts. I need to add at least another 200 feet to give a total of 400. I think I will go ahead and do it. If it doesn't work then I will just have some odd general purpose line laying around. I will report.

    Splicing anchor rode

Thanks for all the input fellas. Doing the splice is no problem. The last twenty or so years of my work was on dredges, tug boats and such, handling rock and spoils. We regularly spliced wire rope (cable) up to 2 inch diameter and soft lines both three strand and 8 plait eyes that were mostly 9...

    Splicing anchor rode

I recently came into ownership of a Lewmar Pro Fish 700 windlass. It came with a 200 foot length of 8 plait nylon line that has been deployed exactly one time in 30 feet of water. I need more length than that so am trying to find out if anyone has tried feeding a splice through the Pro Fish 700...

    Relocating to Venice Florida area

Gasparilla Marina is a good bet. They have a ramp, rack storage, bait shop. Everything you need along with easy access to the Gulf and Charlotte harbor. The famous Boca Grand tarpon fishing hole is right near. Best to skip that unless you are into combat fishing.:) They have a webcam that you...

    Trolling speed question...

Talking about trolling speed when dealing with wind and tide flow, just remember to forget your GPS SOG. Fish don't swim by speed over ground. They are dealing with water resistance same as your boat so if you want to be real precise with trolling speed you need to have a speed wheel hooked to...
