External transducer mounting on twin engine 270

Ah, those images weren't there before. I see what you mean. In these parts we can spend all the $$ we want on gadgets and gizmos and still have a boat load of Amish outfish everyone with next to nothing for tech! Thankfully I don't have to fish for living. Until I do, I'm ok with some fish...

External transducer mounting on twin engine 270

What don't you like about the side and clear vu? I've heard pros and cons, but regardless it will be light years ahead of what was there previously for us. All I'm hoping for out of the sidevu is to help us locate schools more quickly without having to cover as much water. Great timing for fuel...

External transducer mounting on twin engine 270

I decided to role the dice and place mine over the transom, just right of the drain plug mounted to a bonded mounting pad (no holes). I know a guy (who is not on the forum) with a 2004 270. He has the same unit as me installed 1 year ago. He has no issues with the transducer in the same location...

A 5 minute job it was not!

Thank you. Yes it is a wrap.

External transducer mounting on twin engine 270

Because if the narrow beam and twins, you'd have to be directly behind the boat to see the wire. I routed it up towards the starboard engine and, gulp, over the transom. Hopefully it won't bring shame to my family. :)

    275 Freedom with t/150’s Vs 200’s

You won't be under powered, but I can understand your concern. We run 150's on our 270. It is heavier than the 275. We top out at 46 mph; can pull a multi-person tube without issue while having 4 adults on board. No issues. Don't think of the f150's only being 300 hp total, think more about the...

A 5 minute job it was not!

Thank you. I have no idea what it would cost to have this done. For me it's almost more of a PIA to coordinate what I want someone else to do and hope they get it done right, than just do it myself. The old c80 system was awfully complicated compared to the new Garmin. Half the job seemed like...

    Chase with 250 four strokes

Likely the same hull as the 270. Mine is rated for 500 HP with that vintage f250, but I have a lot more weight forward. If you have the full running surface, that hull was probably designed for f225's which were similar in weight to the 250's. I can only guess it isn't an issue. On another note...

    Higher Fuel Prices

The answer is simple. History will repeat itself just as it always does. The market will be flush with low hour boats this fall.

Lost a trim tab on 330 need replacement

Pretty sure Boat ID is Autoplicity. Glad your order worked out. I'm 1 for 3 with Autoplicity. I will say that unlike some of the other lesser known vendors, they do at least pay to have people answer the phone. I wouldn't hesitate to order common high volume auto parts from them, but the low...

Lost a trim tab on 330 need replacement

Nice of you to search Mustang, but Autoplicity is notorious for claiming something is in stock, when in fact it isn't. Been there, done that. I even called directly to verify and they claimed it was available. Once the order was placed, the real story was revealed. FWIW, companies like...

What is the newest GW that has experienced wood transom issues?

Yes. There are several on here. I'm sure they will chime in soon. If the transom is well sealed, issues won't happen. However, it can be tough to determine when an issue is occuring without pulling engines and the bang plate.

What is the newest GW that has experienced wood transom issues?

The wood is only warranted through the wood manufacturer. Nothing else. Boats newer than 1998 use Greenwood for structural components helping significantly reduce the chance for rot issues. From what I have seen, most of the issues on boats built after 1998 can be attributed to Grady's half-ass...

Major failure from rot and delamination

My Dad's Overnighter transom flexed so badly that I was amazed the engine didn't snap off. I had no idea fiberglass could flex so much. So yes, it can happen, but I think many catch the problem before it becomes a catastrophe.

    Express 330 concerns?

Grady knows the most. Question is will Grady actually tell you. Me thinks not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Do you think this area is cored?

Dennis, there is no inspection port close by. I will use my remote camera to see what it looks like on the back side. Yes, the fix can be simple if there is coring, but it isn't if you don't have a heated garage. It's on the to-do list! Seasick, I'm not sure what you are implying. I'm simply...

Do you think this area is cored?

Thanks efx, but the unnecessary hole is what I'm trying to avoid!;) If you have no coring there, my guess is I'll be ok too.

Do you think this area is cored?

Im running a new transducer. I'd prefer to drill where there is no coring. The bottom of the splash well isn't cored, but I can't tell if these areas are. Anyone know if GW typically cores the side walls of the splash well? Tapping on these spots sounds similar to the deck.

    360 Express Transom Issues

Looking again, it appears what you are seeing is the edge of the aluminum brace that runs through the transom. On some models the brace is fully glassed in, but it looks like that one isn't. Only guessing, but it looks like the seam between the glass and aluminum - nothing more. Call and email...
