It finally happened. My new to me 270.

That only works for tubes that are all at the same angle - I believe.

Thanks MB! It's not the garage in the background. I have another detached garaged. 10' is nice. 13' would have been better. I've seriously considered applying for a variance with the city to go taller, but the rework would require lifting the entire roof. My money tree doesn't have enough...

Door opening is 10'. I've already checked. It will clear.

It finally happened. My new to me 270.

At first I was turned off by 150's, but they actually push these boats well. I got too hung up on only 300 hp, but the fact I have collectively 5.4 liters of 4 stroke makes for a lot of torque. Inline 4's inherently make a broad torque curve compared to the same displacement v6. Running heavy...

It finally happened. My new to me 270.

EFX, the props are original 13 3/4 x 17m. Performance is excellent. I'm not sure why the ram is leaking. The ram looks perfect. The previous owner claims he replaced the seals recently. The stop at the end of the shaft had some built up goop on it. I wondered if the goop pushed under the seal...

It finally happened. My new to me 270.

I'd love to run it this week, but I have a leaking steering ram, a little water in the port LU, and this engine has not had the balancer shaft assemblies replaced. The trailer is getting replaced with something that fits the boat better, is an appropriate capacity and fits in my garage. Any idea...

Thanks for the offer Ky. I wish I had the time to stop by. My wife has been really sick with mono and I had to get home ASAP. Drove 12 hours today. Long day.

Great cover efx. My boat will be going in my garage so a cover isn't needed. Unfortunately the top has to come off. I hate to do it, but don't have a choice. Some more photos:

Thanks! I'm in your neck of the woods right now. I would have put up more photos, but having to compress them all takes too much time. I was too tired last night. I'll get some more up.

It finally happened. My new to me 270.

After looking almost daily for 2 years (yes, I know I'm nuts), I finally scored a 2005 270 Islander. As crazy as it might sound, I think it was worth it! 2 owner boat; garaged its entire life; owned by a meticulous enthusiast; nearly flawless, and it is now ours! We are still in transit from...

    Replacement Bang Cap sealant?

Dennis, not to argue, but I am curious. Have you ever seen 5200 weather away from sun exposure? 3m states the color is not UV stable like 4000. 4000 won't turn yellow. 3m does not state that 5200 should not be used in an exposed application. I've had 5200 FC exposed for 10 years. It hasn't...

    2002 248 Voyager

I started with about 150 lbs in the bow and pulled around 40-50 lbs out. I didn't like how the bow plowed at low speed under certain conditions. BTW, I don't have a hard top either. Having 600 lbs of hardtop and gas would make a huge difference in the ride, but causes other issues. If you get a...

    2002 248 Voyager

Been there. Done that. Doesn't work unfortunately. The problem is the short running surface and 30" shaft engine. You can't get the engine high enough to get a 4 blade out of the water to enable it to lift. All the 4 blade will do on a 30" engine is use more fuel. A 4 blade on a 25" shaft might...

    2002 248 Voyager

By chance have you ever tried to see if there is enough clearance between the seat boxes to have the hatch swing up towards the cabin? I know it will ultimately hit the bottom of the seats, but I didn't know if there was enough draft to the seat boxes to miss the water fill and drawer pull. I'd...

    2002 248 Voyager

I was thinking of an internal hinge. Something that works like that of a car hood. It might be doable if blocking is mounted on the vertical face of the bulkheads. Hmmm.

    2002 248 Voyager

Great use of space and I like how clean and factory-like it looks. How tough is it to lift the hatch out? My preference would be to have it hinge so it swings up towards the passenger seat, but I don't know of any hinges that will allow that to happen.

    2002 248 Voyager

Happy to help. Please post photos of your storage locker. I used pea gravel and triple bagged it in heavy duty trash bags. I figured it would be a lot easier to clean up if the bag ever leaked and it won't hold water. 100 lbs won't make a world of difference, but it will be better, especially if...
