    360 Express Transom Issues

How does it look from the outside? Any bulging or cracking? Look over the transom as someone throttles the boat onto plane. Does the transom flex noticably? If you have any of those happening, you very well may have an issue.

New 1996 Grady White Islander 268 with twin 200 V6 Mercs

Grady might have some fuel burn info for reference, but you will need to call them or email them to get it. Considering your high fuel consumption at cruise and low WOT speed, I wonder if you are over propped. Typically it was said a DI 2 stroke or FI 4 stroke would net about a 40% improvement...

New 1996 Grady White Islander 268 with twin 200 V6 Mercs

Congrats! What rpm were you running at wot? I wonder if the throttles we're fully opened. 400 HP of 2 smokes should net in the neighborhood of 50 mph for that hull. The sound of 2 strokes brings back a lot of fond memories... minus the fuel bill!

2002 Marlin in Key Largo - Craigslist Scam

Fire, I probably came across 6 or so of these looking for our Islander. One common thread was all of the hull numbers were deleted. Also boats would be advertised in places where the backgrounds didn't match. For example, Florida add with deciduous trees in the background. Unfortunately people...

    Cabin cushion recover

I don't remember the manufacturer, but this is supposed to be an RV/marine interior fabric we are having done. The cushion bottoms will be mesh like the originals. It doesn't show in these photos, but the base color is a similar beige to curtains and original fabric.

Any advice to repair interior liner crack? (with photo)

FWIW, I backed all of my headliner screws out a quarter turn. My thought is it might reduce stress from over torqued fasteners and give the liner some room to move before cracking. As for a fix, Grady contracts it out to someone. Question is what will they charge to fix it? Grady is known to...

    272 Sailfish Cracks in Stringers

That model does not have the full running surface. Worst case his transom is not at the same angle it was when it left the factory.

2006 Freedom 225, Yamaha 225 OB Radio Interference

Check to see if spark plugs wires are fully seated on both ends of the wire. Were plugs changed recently? If so, check to be sure they are all correct and none are cracked. Inspect other ignition components for anything out of the ordinary... and whatever seasick tells you I missed.:)

    272 Sailfish Cracks in Stringers

Bouncing on the engines is a good start, but you are only inducing a small fraction of the torque (bending moment) twin 225's will produce from full thrust. Unfortunately you likely have something significant going on there. Those cracks are immediately next to your tab pockets. Are there any...

How to Access Batteries on 2008 282 Sailfish?

I'm not positive if the newer 282's are like the 270's, but if it is, battery access will be a challenge. You won't need special tools to access the batteries, but removing them is a physical PIA. To make it less painful, a thick foam pad or even cardboard to lay face down on will reduce...

    Overnighter battery move forward

Triple bag pea gravel for the win! Cheap, easy to handle, readily available from a home store, and easy to dispose what you don't need.

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

Oh, and FWIW, the biggest charter guy in my neck of the woods runs all cats. Erie is notoriously rough and the big cats are a game changer in the right hands.

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

I have not experienced one, but have a couple suggestions of what you must experience on a test ride beyond what MB stated: Experience the boat in a typical beam sea at rest or slow troll, especially if you think you will regularly encounter those conditions. Word is cats can and will...

Tips on removing batteries on 330 express 2008 and up

The 270 is also a PIA to remove batteries. I haven't tried it yet, but I thought about taking a 2x4 and attaching a small pulley to it. Mount the 2x4 under the bottom of the rod holders. One person pulls the rope attached to the battery handle and another swings the battery out.

    Islander Trailer Setup

The tires have less than 1k miles. Wear is not an issue, but overheating them could be. I would like to think I would have noticed. I always check tire and hub temps on long hauls. Never noticed anything out of the ordinary. I'll have to see how things go in the spring.

New Boat Set-up - Mechanical or Digital 150s?

Congrats on the new boat! Be sure to post photos. If you end up not liking the digital controls, I'll happily trade you for my mechanicals! ;)

    Islander Trailer Setup

Made my way out to the other garage today to check what tires I have. Load range "D", 65 psi max. Here is the head scratcher: pressure on both tires on one side were 50 psi, but it was 25⁰ in the building. When I put the trailer away I remember upping the air a little for winter storage. My old...
