    Explorer repower 246g

What shaft length are you running? I thought the SHO was only available in 20 or 25"?

What is this and how serious is it?

It's no guarantee, but at that price point and age I would strongly consider boats not kept in the water. Dry stacked or stored under cover or inside only. Seafarers shouldn't be hard to find meeting that criteria. For that age and price point the gelcoat should be shiny and the boat should be...

    248 Voyager repower

Unless you have the auxillary tank (keep it full) and a hard top, I would not put twin 4 strokes on that hull unless they are Merc 115's. That hull likes to ride very bow high with a single. Putting twin 150's or bigger is a lot of weight that will only make it worse. Before you pooh-pooh the...

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

Not that I could have come up with a better price, but $9200 for only a partial rebuild had to be very profitable for the shop. I wonder what the price would have been during sane times?

Grady white 248 voyager single 225 etec best prop?

After rereading your original post, my guess is the hydrofoil is the issue. I could not get the 30" ox66 high enough out of the water to get the anti ventilation plate near the surface. My guess is you have the same issue. That means the foil is burried and not on top of the water where it...

Local Grady White Dealer will not work on my Outboard

When times are good, a dealer can be selective. When times are bad, they will bend over backwardsnfor every dollar. Yes, I have heard and experienced the same issue and I understand the position of the dealer. Most 10+ year old outboards can be a disaster. For the minority who take good care of...

Grady white 248 voyager single 225 etec best prop?

That is a characteristic of that hull especially without the extra 250 lbs of hardtop. I added around 100-130 lbs of ballast to the front compartment of the cabin using pea gravel triple bagged in heavy duty trash bags. I also raised the engine to the highest mounting hole. This reduced...

Grady white 248 voyager single 225 etec best prop?

With the right prop I would think you should have at least similar numbers with far better performance on the low end.

Grady white 248 voyager single 225 etec best prop?

What is the displacement of your Etec? The ox66 225 was a 3.1L. If it is the same displacement or greater, that engine with DI should outperform an EFI.

Grady white 248 voyager single 225 etec best prop?

Prop was a Yamaha 15.25 x17. I did not have a hard top or auxiliary tank. Cruise was 2.5 mpg at 30-32 mph. Top speed with a half tank, top down, and only me was 45 mph @ 5500 rpms (max for a 225 ox66) gps verified. Grady claimed with my setup and an unmolested OEM prop that 3.0 mpg was possible...

Grady white 248 voyager single 225 etec best prop?

I owned a 248 for 10 years. Your numbers aren't so hot. I got better numbers out if a 225 ox66 with a reworked prop. Ken at prop-gods is the go-to guy if you would like to get your set-up dialed in.

    268 repower single 300

I have seen a 270 out of Florida set up this way and also a 268. The owner of the 268 said top end was 40. Best fuel burn was 2.1 mpg @ 28 mph.

    Wiper refills for 04 Gulfstream

Without seeing it, I'm not sure about your specific application, but many of these blades were commercial Anco stainless blades. Easily found on eBay or Amazon based on length. I think I picked up 2 for my 248 for under $15 shipped.

    Tips for trailering Marlin

I'm reviving this one because now I have this issue. My 248 never had this issue, but the 270 is doing it every time. Couple observations: The bow eye on the 248 was obnoxiously high. So much so that it forced me to launch deep to get the pulpit over the winch stand. The 270 is lower. Initially...

Battery removal tool for 270/282 Islander/Sailfish

All of my batteries is have handles. The issue is the batteries are 2' into the compartment and 1.5' down into the bilge. Not fun to reach.

Battery removal tool for 270/282 Islander/Sailfish

I remember reading a long while back about the horrible battery access in some of the Grady's. With my new to me 270, I am now that guy. I can't find the post, but I know some people came up with methods to remove the batteries more easily. Any suggestions?
