Opinion on Sailfish 282 From Owners?

To Sailfish 282 Owners: I'm planning for the retirement boat. Thinking about a center console since I mostly fish and like to fly a kite, but Grady's walk-around works fairly with a kite and does keep the Admiral happy. The Sailfish fits the need of being a true walk-around, has overnighting...

Continuing Great Loop - A few Pics

Several members here have patiently answered questions as I have continued to travel the Great Loop, sections at a time. I recently did a 'Heartland' section, trailering to Nashville, going up to Paducah, then down the Tenn-Tom some before back-tracking to pull out in Mussel Shoals, AL. Took me...

    How to post a Picture

Maybe the sixth time attempting this from Imgur will be a charm? Pickwick State Park Marina, TN: Headed South on the Tennessee River In AL: Entering the Tenn-Tom Waterway in MS: Well, other than working on re-sizing a bit, seems to be the ticket!

    4.2L F250's - 265 Express

Rob: For what it is worth, when I swapped out my 3.3L F250 for a 4.2L F300, my Yamaha motor cover suddenly became quite a challenge to get on the new motor due to a slight increase in girth. The block remains the same and, as said, bored out, but the routing of the air intakes, and I'm sure a...

    Spirit 175 Trim Tabs

Our first Grady was the Spirit and we intended to add tabs and never got around to it. For good advice, suggest you contact either Grady or Bennet trim tabs directly. Over on the THT forum, Bennet has a poster by the name of 'tabman' who is very helpful. If you haven't had them before, tabs are...

Does the new 325 mean the end of the Marlin?

Agree with most comments. We too think of the Marlin as the 'retirement boat'. And agree that the emphasis on bow riders holds no appeal to us. It is somewhat reassuring to see some emphasis placed on some smaller center consoles to bring newbies into the fold. Rob

It was all fun and games till my motor got stolen

Bob: That is just terrible. But your response to it; Well, that is just the stuff that Dad's are made of. Wishing you a truly Happy Father's Day. Rob

    New (to me) Adventure 208

TnT: Welcome to the forum! That is one clean looking Grady. We also had a 208. Probably the most fun Grady we had. We made several memorable runs to the Bahamas. Lots of great memories. Hope yours serves you as well. Rob

    Grady White 255 w 300hp Yamaha opinions

Snappa: I have the same hull in a Journey 258 powered with the Yamaha F300. It is plenty of power for what I use it for. I keep the fuel tank (127 gal.) 2/3 full or better but don't typically fill the boat with more than four people. Boat hops up on plane easily. Most importantly to me, she...

    Great Lakes Question

Okay Magical, the more useful info you provide, the more follow on questions I come up with. First, thanks for such specific advice. It is most helpful and appreciated. Second, another question: I like the specific advice about following the 10'-12' shoreline contour on anything southerly. How...

    Great Lakes Question

Bill: Long-winded is much appreciated, so thank you! We're pretty weather-conservative and especially so when on these trips. Weather days are built into the plan. Good advice on staying within the channel markers, too. I always intend to when in waters that I don't know. That said, I still...

    Great Lakes Question

Update: Great Lakes Question Update and a revised question: After all the helpful information gathered in 2015, we decided to skip over the Great Lakes for now and continue the Rivers portion of the Great Loop in our 258 Journey, since it is the perfect boat for that section. We've covered from...

live well on my 2014 Grady 209 fisherman

Karma: Not sure what your starting situation is. Do you currently have a thru-hull pick-up and pump bringing water in and a stand pipe that then drains the water out? If so, you can shorten the length of the stand pipe to reduce the volume of water in the livewell - if that helps.

    258 cabin door holding strap

Do you have the option to forego the strap and go with the magnet that Grady now uses? It holds the door in place pretty well, even when it's bumpy.
