    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Thanks Magical. Started out as a nice day in some on/off light rain getting into Florida’s panhandle. Wind picked up with brief showers later. Really like cruising along all the Air Force preserve lands. Felt the wind in the open fetch of the bays. Put my iPhone away during heavier rain...

    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Really nice to have people more educated about long range forecasts looking ahead for me. Thanks! Plan is just to get to Carabelle and see. Enjoy the trip without stressing about what weather will be when I get there. That said, I will still hope for and appreciate Magical’s thoughts when I am...

    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Front got here a day early. Tomorrow is NE 15 - 20, gusts 25. Too much for my discs. Tomorrow will be sleep in and clean up the boat some. Short ride today getting out of Dog River to Orange Beach. About N 10-15, but mostly following sea. picked up the Gulf ICw heading east. Tied up...

    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Gettin' warmer, but still not quite warm enough for me. The words of the speaker in Demopolis were exactly right. The debris in this last pool in the Tom Bigbee was tremendous. I took more hits than I can count. We all did. Sorry, not many pictures of this stretch due to that. We delayed...

    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Sorry. Didn’t put the curtains up because I didn’t want to impair any view of debris. Especially for the first hour or two, the windshield kept fogging up on the inside. I was on my toes to see over the top of that tall windshield!

    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Magical. It is Demopolis Marina who also owns Kingfisher Bay Marina. And you’re exactly right on the debris. Many loopers were stuck there waiting for debris to subside. So marina brought in a river expert one evening to explain that Demopolis pool had crested. Hence debris would tend to...

    Finally on the Loop. Pictures.

Got the boat in the water this morning. Tom Bigbee River has crested but debris is plentiful. Headed north for a bit to try to connect with last trip. So much debris didn’t make it all the way. Nice fall trees, dirty water. A log that I saw. Hopefully I see them all! Tied up for the night...

Prepping for Next Leg of Great Loop - Makeshift AC - Pictures!

I’m in Demopolis now. Got my airline ticket to Atlanta and one-way car rental some time ago. River is very high. Boaters reporting much floating debris. Some choosing to just wait it out here. However, I don’t know where my boat is at the moment. Truck hauler got held up in VA for some reason...

Magical: Sure. I'm loading the boat with 'stuff' today and will put it on boat hauler's trailer late this afternoon. Then boat is on the road for a 12-hour (assuming no stops) drive tomorrow.

Thanks for the confidence boost. Mine is also 8000 BTU. But it is Amazon's own brand, so I don’t know who actually makes it. Hopefully, it works near as well as yours. Thanks, Rob

Prepping for Next Leg of Great Loop - Makeshift AC - Pictures!

I loved Pick Landing State Park. Stayed there several days. Pickwick is near the start of the Tenn-Tom and I went down it for two days before back tracking to Muscle Shoals, AL for a good pull out point. So this time I’ll put in Demopolis, AL which is a 'must stop' on the Loop. More...

    Utilization under stern seat

My 1992 175 and 1995 205 had exactly that. If someone with your same model doesn't jump into the conversation, just call the factory and ask. They are great at helping out with such questions.

Attempting to Continue Fishing into the cold Months

Hockey: By the way, congrats on the 258 and welcome to the Forum. Great boat. Had mine for 14 years. Many great family memories on that boat. Good luck with her. Rob

Prepping for Next Leg of Great Loop - Makeshift AC - Pictures!

I never thought this topic would generate this much discussion! Dennis, your idea is brilliant - I wish I would have started this thread a week ago. I did do more reinforcing today, and i believe it will stay in place in normal driving. But Dennis' idea would add a lot. I'll need to stow things...

Prepping for Next Leg of Great Loop - Makeshift AC - Pictures!

More good thoughts. Dennis, I recognize that it still needs more opposing straps. Will work on that tomorrow. Hate to drill holes, but not coming up with a more secure idea. Cutting into rubber pad is good idea once I’m certain that this is where it stays. No generator, so only used, at...

Prepping for Next Leg of Great Loop - Makeshift AC - Pictures!

Wow, a number a of good thoughts already. Where to begin. The hot air has a pretty straight shot from the aft berth pie plate to the outside live well pie plate. Both pie plates provide access to the inline shut-off valve to the live well drain that makes it truly dry storage. My only concern...

Prepping for Next Leg of Great Loop - Makeshift AC - Pictures!

First trip in new-to-me 282. Will pick up Tombigbee River in northern Alabama. Tombigbee runs into Mobile Bay. Then decision to make, largely on weather. Could turn west through Mississippi Sound towards New Orleans and visit family. Or, could turn east towards Carabelle, FL and the end of the...

    Underwater lights?

Well, I guess I'll be the one that got taken. I went the Lumitec Seablaze on my previous boat about 5 or 6 years ago and was very happy with them. Really lit up the water well. Can't say that I wouldn't have been equally happy with something less costly. But they seemed to have the best...
