New to me: '76 Formula 233

Not to jump off the path here, but I have a 16 1967 Donzi Ski Sporter. They were first made in '64 or '65, I think. They were Jim Wynne hulls too, and I thought they were the deep V pioneers.

    222 ride quality

no problem has the key. Go out in the one you want to buy or another boat with the same hull and see if you like it. That's what I did before I bought my Seafarer 22. Waayy too much money to spend unless you know for a fact you'll be happy with the ride.

    trailering a 208 or 228

All good advice from the pro's here. I will add this...Make sure your trailer is overbuilt for whichever boat you choose. I let my dealers spec and make the arrangements for my previous trailers and was sorry each time. They underbuilt them so as to make the total price attractive. I suppose...

    seafarer sitting low in water

I agree with ChrisA I don't see why a Seafarer with a 2-stroke 200 would sit low enough to submerge the scuppers. Yes, they will still drain the deck properly while underwater,as my Gulfstream does, but that's not the issue here. WHY are they under? Could there be soaked stringers or as Chris...

    vhf radio question

Crap..One more thing I forgot. Use the "Scan" feature( you probably have one) and program the channels I listed above so it will cover them all. It'll stop whenever it hears a call on whatever channel you have programmed into the scan mode. This is easier than just monitoring one channel at a...

    vhf radio question

Rule of thumb..If you can pick up the weather, your antenna and radio are working and you should be able to get ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore also. 1.) Make sure you dial your squelch knob so that you hear background noise. Turn it counter-clockwise until the noise appears, then back it off...

    Going to the Keys

Have a safe trip down..Keep us up-to-date on the oil rumblings from the charter captains, liveaboards, tour boat captains, etc. Oh, and a couple clear-water pics while tied to a bouy at Pennenkamp with your Grady in the background wouldn't hurt either... Have a great trip!

Question for the South East Florida Folks

Speaking of the truck and trailer. If one has to post a sign in the window stating there's nothing of value inside and/or chain it to a post, then perhaps another alternative should be investigated. Maybe a friend's backyard, a store-n-lock facility or a fenced-in marina backlot. I would...

    Gulfstream too wide to trailer?

    Got it.....

Question for the South East Florida Folks

This may be a stupid question, but I'm not sure I understand. If you want to run to the Bahamas and launch further South than Stuart don't you mean you need a secure place for your TRUCK and trailer? You would be on board your boat and away from them. What did I miss?

    Gulfstream too wide to trailer?

JUMPINJACK..great story! Who would've ever thought? Did the cushion clean up OK after being on the side of the road and out in the weather all that time? IwanaBrich..What it will most likely come to is a personal decision you'll have to make concerning the permit. Tow without it and avoid the...
