    Cannons marine

If you are buying new, keep in mind that Grady protects their dealers geographic territories. In other words, if you live in Bradenton and Cannons is assigned to that area, they will steer you to them. Note also that this applies to current model year new models only. Leftovers and used boats...

Trade the Grady for a bay boat?

I think RUF is thinking of a bay boat like a Nauticstar or Shearwater center console. By that, it's a wide, relatively shallow V flat, stable fishing platform. Easy to fish out of, but a completely different ride and experience in rougher Gulf waters. It's really a matter of how you will be...

    First Grady

The VHF and antenna is something that I would spend a few extra bucks on, even if I had to wait on something else for a bit. Your safety is too important. Some people like ICOM, others like Standard Horizon....stop by a West Marine or other marine store and press the buttons and decide which...

    windshield wipers

Your local NAPA auto parts store will have them. Take the old one off and bring it in with you. They come in SS or powder coated finish. I replaced one over the summer and it was about $10, if I recall.

Trailer Guys with Disc Brakes - Need Opinions Please

I'll vote for the Deemaxx brakes...I have them on my Owens and Sons and they work well. The engineering is similar to the Kodiak brakes as Deemaxx was founded by someone who used to work for Kodiak. The price is much more palatable....

    New and Need LOTS OF HELP {PLESASE}

Southco makes the latches for the cuddy and door. Look on their website or call GW cuts service and get the part numbers. If you have a surge, you probably are headed for a carb rebuild. I had the same problem with my 98 150 SWS. Yamaha had issues that year with the pot metal in the carbs...

    208 railing

I had to replace the railing on my 226 a couple years back. It came disassembled so the shipping wasn't awful. That said, it was a $450 part if I recall. Nothing about Grady's is cheap.... Can a local ship fabricate a replacement? You might check with Raybo out on Long Island....maybe he...

    Re-striping 222 Fisherman

For what it's worth, my 180 did not have the striping. Originally I planned to replace it, but the stripe-free look grew on me...and it certainly was less maintenance.... Side by parthery, on Flickr

    How underpowered ...

I owned an '86..originally powered with a 2 stroke Johnson 150. Had to have the powerhead rebuilt, and at the 17 hour mark after the rebuild, it blew the powerhead a second time. At that point, it became scrap. Wound up repowering with a Yamaha VMax 150 - circa 1998. (The mid 80s 190s have a...

Best way to sell my Grady

100 hours a year is pretty good for a 4 year old boat. I live in a climate that allows me to use the boat for 8-9 months a year and have the option to haul it to Florida for the other 3. I only put 60-70 hours a year on it at the most... That said, a well written ad on THT or Great Grady...

What is everyones thoughts on this Grady 208 adventure?

The boat is in Raleigh....anyone here willing to help this gentleman out and go take a look? I'm 5 hours away and will be in Raleigh on business the week after next...so if you don't mind waiting two weeks, I'm happy to go look at it, take some more pics, and give you a general idea of what I...

What is everyones thoughts on this Grady 208 adventure?

I'd put it in the "good deal" category.... Generally 98-99s with 200 ox66's go in the high teens to low 20s, depending on condition, electronics and trailer. You are getting the exact same boat (1997 was the first year of the redesign) and newer 4 stroke power, so you should be in good shape...

228 Seafarer seacock rods for livewell and washdown seacocks

Re: 228 Seafarer seacock rods for livewell and washdown seac Did the rod break or is it just frozen? If it's frozen, find "Aero Kroil"...its far better than PB Blaster....spray it on the fitting....let it sit for a minute or two, then try to work it. I was able to break mine free without too...

To Survey or Not to Survey - 2001 GW 180

I may be in the minority, but I have never had a survey done. I've paid mechanics a couple hours labor to check out engines, pull compression numbers, check lower units, pull YDS reports, etc... Maybe it's because I've spent my whole life around boats and know what to look for. I've sold a...
