    bennett trim tab problems

This. The pump can only run in one direction at a time. If you ask it to do both it will it complain and yell at you for being abusive (popping the fuse). I believe there is an inline "thing" that Bennet sells (or used to anyways) that senses an abusive owner and prevents any input at all...

    Voyager 248 Transom Cap Replacement

I hear 'ya on the frustrating part - been there! Where I vacation in Maine, if I need a screw it's about a 2 hour trip. I now have multiple tackleboxes (the kind you can divide into lot's of sections) filled and neatly labelled with SS hardware, electrical connectors, etc. A little pricey to...

    Voyager 248 Transom Cap Replacement

I believe that actually applies to quite a few (all?) models - but good reminder!

Fresh water fill port 2003 228 seafarer

The cap definitely has an o-ring - just match it up. I've never seen a gasket used along with an o-ring - that wouldn't make sense.

    Voyager 248 Transom Cap Replacement

Good eye on finding that screw! That's exactly how the galvanic corrosion starts - the two dissimilar metals (SS screw and aluminum plate) chemically interact with each other in the presence of moisture and corrode away. The hole gets bigger and the screw starts to fail. The newer Grady cap...

Any idea how to correct this?

I would get your dealer involved in that for warranty. That's not "arrestable" - I mean, you could slop it up with grease for the time being, but that motor is on borrowed time. In this case the fix is to replace it. The motor will be failing very soon. It looks like it may have an impact...

    Sunroof leaking

As I noted above, I've never worked on this exact piece, but... a couple thoughts to pass along... -- As mentioned above, check seals -- Does your flange/tray have drains in the corners? They may be plugged. I don't know if it has drains or not - but car sunroofs do as the seal isn't designed...

01 268 Islander twin yams, trim tab pump blowing fuses

Always go for the "free" fix, first! :) Besides, doing what you're doing is never a bad thing. Don't forget the power source (fuse) connections (both sides). And be sure to closely inspect wire connections for frayed or broken wires.

01 268 Islander twin yams, trim tab pump blowing fuses

Shoot. I was hoping for the easy fix :) 3" is about right (maybe a bit less, actually). It stands to reason that there would be more strain on the motor moving two hydraulic rams at once. Starting point... remove/inspect/clean connections - especially +V and ground. The problem "could be"...

Running a Freedom 285 in the winter?

If it gets too cold, the vinyl windows can crack - but they should be fine if you leave them in place and don't touch them.

    Crappy cupholder upgrade

Is there foam in the area underneath that could get soaked? If so, I "guess" you could plug the cupholder and seal it really well (if it fits in the space)?

    Crappy cupholder upgrade

You could just cut some HDPE spacers to go underneath it - build it to the height you want.

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Wow - I'm surprised you got the speed you did with all that! I guess they're small enough and tightly packed together that it "smoothed" things out a bit :)

Are you trying to go "up" with one button and "down" with the other at the same time?

    Grady 208 Cup Holders?

Since it's made out of HDPE to fit a specific spot then it sounds like that was something Grady made in-house. Other than getting lucky and finding a used one somewhere, you're only option is going to be through a Grady dealer... and you may have to call around to a bunch of them to see if...

    Tinning Corroded Wire

Good idea with the wire wheel. I usually just splay the wires out and scrape them lightly with a razor blade... then re-splay and do again. I might try that wire wheel next time! If you have the soldered joint secured on both sides of the joint, then you're fine - when it's allowed to move is...

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Well, sure, in the strictest sense of the word. But this is not how prop slip is used, right? Meaning, it's irrelevant to the issue. Or, how does calculating prop slip HELP him figure out the problem in this case? It's sort of a useless thing, right?

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Prop slip (again from my minimal knowledge on this subject) is more about a "mis-matched" prop for the application/boat design - not "bad props". In this case, props haven't changed so they're not mis-matched. But, yes, fuel quality/supply can and does result in this exact issue he's having...
