    Boat seesawing on mooring

I haven't found a way to stop that, either. I figure it's just the nature of this general type of hull design. But, truthfully, I don't care - it doesn't hurt anything in any way shape or form. Let it do it's thing.

    Fresh water pump

At 3 decades old there could have been any number of changes made to this system over the years by who knows how many owners. Can you clarify what "pump tests OK" means? To me, that would mean that you disconnected the output hose, turned on the pump and had good water flow/pressure coming...

Grady White 19 foot tournament model

Jim, that looks like it's close enough for me to take a chance on it. If your other guy falls through, I'm interested.

    mercrusier rpm guage

The engine is 10 years old... has this been going on for 10 years? Are you trimming up till just before ventilation? Need more info.

    fresh water pumps

When it was working, where do you remember the sound was coming from? You shouldn't need to make an access hole - it will be accessible. But you may have to remove something - a slide-out tackle drawer, for example. "Typically", a fresh water pump is mounted very close to the tank. Where is...

Corrosion inside Gil bracket on 225

How bad is it? Where is the corrosion - meaning, can you get your hands on it? Cleaning it well, scuffing it up good and coating with epoxy might just do the trick. Hopefully it's not on there with 5200! Try gently heating it... without catching the gelcoat/fiberglass on fire. Fiberglass...

    330 Express Custom Gauge Panel.

Looks good! The only problem with it being shiny, that I see, is that you know have to keep the rest of the boat just as shiny. :) If you want to knock down the shine a bit... see if you can find a clear spray paint (get one that can be used on plastic... HD and Lowes has it...

Sailfish 282 Deck Drain Hose Cutting Access Hole

Having not done it on your particular boat, I won't suggest an area. Maybe some pics would help, though. But... some tips... -- Go larger. Whatever size you think you need... go larger. A hole won't hurt the structural integrity of a panel (within reason). -- Put it where YOU feel the...

    broken thru hull

Hmmmm... I think I'm going to put that double hole saw trick in my mental toolbox!

No worries if it doesn't work out - first come, first serve - I get it :) I'm in Allentown.

    broken thru hull

How do you keep the hole saw centered? Gently brace it as you go... or maybe wedge a wooden plug into the hole?

    broken thru hull

That should work just fine. Put some of the 4000 in the hole/on the screw heads for a little added security.

Thanks for writing back, Jim. I'll see my mother on Friday (she's in ME and I'm currently in PA) and will measure and respond. She keeps saying she doesn't need it - but I think she just doesn't want to spend the money. If htis works out, I'll make it an early birthday present :) Where are you?

    broken thru hull

Not in my book :) Thru-hulls may need to come out at some point... damage, preventative maintenance, hose replacement, etc.

    broken thru hull

Yeah, 5200's tensile strength is stronger than the bond between gelcoat and fiberglass... which you unfortunately found out. Plastic is tough to bond to... will the "glue" be the only method of attachment? Or can you attach it mechanically?

I'm not sure if it would fit (I can measure in a few days), but if the person taking the windshield has no use for the center window, I'd be interested. My mother has a 2000 192 with no center window.

    broken thru hull

Possibly. But it could certainly happen the other way around, too. 5200 is one of the most widely over recommended things on the internet. I would use it on things I don't ever want to take apart or possibly need to replace because of damage. Other than that, other products have worked well...

Swing check valve in the 228 update

No, absolutely not - I don't take offense to anything you're saying. I can appreciate where you're coming from and simply asking "why". Yes, the clamps. So, the way you did it isn't "bad" - it's just there's a better way. Just because Grady did it that way, doesn't make it right, either :)...

    Grady White Transom Door replacement

You're gonna have to let your fingers do the walking on this one. You probably get the reference as you're "old enough" to know it. Looks like an easy project to make out of HDPE. Possibly that's what the original was, anyways.

Swing check valve in the 228 update

Glad to hear you're happy with it, Lucky. Personally, it sounds like a lot to do to clear a clog - especially if you're out on the water and the boat is bouncing. But all that matters in this case is what YOU like/dislilke :) Just a couple precautions... for "best practice", don't align the...
