    Window trim seal - update

I know a bunch of other manufacturer's use that. I think it's a "6 of one, half dozen of another" kind of thing. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use it. Remember, although it's labelled as a "seal", it really isn't a "full" seal. It obviously helps to keep water out, but water getting in...

Good job on the roto-rootering :)

    GW 228 - Scuppers

If the floor drain at least has some type of grate/screen (maybe a crosshair type thing?), then at least large things aren't going down there - which means you're more likely to be successful with the hose.

Question on auto bilge pump wiring 209 Escape

That 40a breaker is not for the bilge pump float switch. The 40a could likely be for the dash power feed. However, the float switch could be wired to the hot side of that breaker as from your description it sounds like the float switch power wire leads to there? Kind of strange, but oh well...

    GW 228 - Scuppers

While you should put scupper replacement (the little rubber flap) on the list of to-do things the next time the boat is hauled, I don't think that's your issue here. However, it "could be" if they were painted partially shut. Jump in the water and lift them up by hand a couple times to loosen...

Removing fish hook from your finger

Never had one go in far enough to do this, but my grandfather used to tell me: push it all the way through till the barb pokes out, cut off the barb, then push it back out the way it came in. Is that what they did?

    Window trim seal - update

You're welcome! It's pretty straight forward. The only thing sometimes annoying (although it's really a good thing) is that sometimes you'll find one or two screws that are actually thru-bolted. If any, it's usually ones at either end of the channel. In that case, if you can't easily get to...

    Window trim seal - update

Yes, that is where the screws are. The gasket is mostly aesthetic, by the way. You should also look to see if there's anything else mounted around there (wiper motor, for example) and investigate. Methodically using a hose can help find the source.

    Trans Cracks

Can it be simply reinforced? Sure. But the only way to know whether it's worthwhile to do that is to inspect it fully. There's no way that we can tell that from where we are. Based solely on what you've written I'll make a casual assumption that this is not something you're familiar with or...

    Exhaust inspection

Wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd do it, at a minimum, to make sure the lower unit comes off and isn't stuck. If you're planning on buying it, replace the impeller at the same time - unless you know that it was just done.

Bennett OBI9000H (with sensor-less actuators) stops working / times out?

Most of us work for a living. I offered that advice of calling them directly since it would be the most efficient way for you to get the correct answer the first time. And, yes, we can benefit from the answer... after you figure it out. It's a very uncommon question - again, hence the reason...

1985 Grady White Offshore 240 steering wheel spins freely without moving the motors.

This. Especially the part about finding a puddle somewhere. It likely didn't just magically happen (although sometimes it does) - it was probably already starting to happen before you put it away. What can you remove on the cabin side of the helm to access it better? I think you can get a...

How to trouble shoot rocker switch

Since it seems that your switch is causing intermittent on/off issues and you were able to get the pump to turn off by playing with the switch... you've already trouble shot it. Replace the switch.

Bennett OBI9000H (with sensor-less actuators) stops working / times out?

Tabman passed away a few years ago. Best bet is to call Bennett directly. Use that thingy where you can talk, in real time, to a real person :)

    2007Yamaha F250 fuel leak

Can you re-read what you wrote and correct the mistyped words? It's not clear what you're saying. Also, add some more description as to where it's leaking - or maybe take some pictures.

    Sunroof leaking

Oh, it wasn't clear. I thought you were talking about the hatch above the cabin. I haven't worked on one of those - but generally, a leak is a leak is a leak. The fix is basically the same... inspect weather seals closely... inspect sealant closely. If nothing is obvious, use a hose to...

General question on drilling through transom

The job is already done :) But look at where he is drilling the hole. He'd have to remove the engine to do that. While the method we've mentioned (oversize drilling, filling with epoxy) is a "best practice" thing, in reality it's not necessary. Properly sealing (and resealing when necessary)...
