I have an older Offshore....I wanted to rig up some rod storage but there isn't enough room. Most of my rods are 7ft.

The reason I don't think the skeg being loose would cause that kind of control issues is because being loose it wouldn't offer any resistance to the flow over it....it would just move with it. Logical....right? Who did you buy it from? No test drive?

Hi and....welcome to the forum. It shouldn't have caused that much slop in the wheel. Secure it at dead nuts 0......then give the engine a good shake....if it moves a lot you may need to bleed the hydraulic steering. Then work on engine trim and trim tabs.......maybe it wasn't really...

The unit did have a hot line for the memory that was supposed to be a home run to the battery.....I tied it in to the switch as I didn't want to drag another wire. It has worked fine this way for 3 years....I just have to tune it each time I use it....mostly I Bluetooth Spotify through my phone...

I have my AM/FM radio wired into a secondary breaker/switch panel in my Offshore. Every so often the radio will shut itself off....but the switch on the panel stays lit. The radio is in a cover...inside the cabin so I know it is not getting wet. Does anybody know why this might happen? Could it...

The Offshore Safety thread has made me think about my safety equipment. I take a few trips for tuna in my Offshore each summer. It is about a 40 mile run for me to find yellowfin from Breezy Point....but it is only 25 miles or so off the NJ shore. I watch the weather closely and carry 140 or so...

If it is a saltwater motor you should flush it periodically with fresh water. There is a hose connection just below the head for this purpose.

Skunk knows what he is talking about.....that sounds like it gets starved for fuel periodically.....although I would get the correct plugs in there ASAP. I also change my plugs in the spring after I burn out all the winterization oil....why start the season with fouled plugs?

I don't think an inflatable life raft is a USCG requirement on a personal craft of that size...... but it sure would be a good idea. I also carry a battery powered backup VHF radio......they are not expensive

My marine retail store found them in a catalogue.....didn't seem to difficult. The SPRING that tensions the wiper arm on my Offshore is another matter.

I cut a 4 inch access hole near the deck fills.....I only had 2 hose clamps to deal with. Could you possibly have more? After the hose clamps are off take out the deck fills. I then sprayed the hose as much as I could with WD40 to help loosen it up. I drilled 2 small holes near the end of each...

Hi Dan....and welcome to the forum. I own an Offshore and there are several others on here who do as well. But Grady only made the Offshore for 10 years or so and I think yours was the last model year. There just seems to be many more newer models on the water now. After all....yours is 29 years...

All good advice above.....if cock is OPEN.....and pump is running and still no water the impeller may not be turning....sometimes the bushing binding the impeller to the shaft breaks down.

Have you bled the lines? That kind of slop could mean some air in the system.
