Happened to me, as well. Good news is the plug is just inside the switch on the motor pan. If you want to replace it, it's an easy fix. The switch is held in place by a bracket. Remove the bolts and the switch pops out. It's not cheap - I paid close to $100 for mine if I recall.

No difference between the '03 and '07. The 248 was lengthened and became the 258 in 2003. I'd be leery of the 250 HPDI....it is NOT the same as the 200 HPDI, which is one of the best motors Yamaha ever made. Do a Google search on the 250 and you will have plenty to read.
