    180 Sportsman Power 115hp vs. 150hp

My 180 with a 150 will run 45-46 wide open. Optimum cruise is 32-34 as I'm barely turning 4000 rpm at that point. I've run a 180 with a 130 and the boat topped out around 40 or so. I don't know that I would be happy with anything less than that. The 180 is a great boat...they come on the...

    Removed my hull graphics.

I've considered replacing the stripes on my 180 a couple times....however at $150 for the striping, plus another $50 or so for the "180" medallions, I've passed. Besides, I think it looks pretty good....

    Flush mont radio...

Finished up the installation...went with a JBL MBB 218 Black Box setup. Previous setup looked like this... Mounted the face in the spot where an existing plug for the spotlight was. The spotlight will now be plugged into the cigarette lighter which is on the bottom forward edge of the...

updating software and data on Garmin 3210

You can update the 3210 in one of two ways. First is the "Garmin marine data management kit" which includes a blank Bluechart and a Bluechart card reader/USB cable. The update is downloaded from Garmin's website onto the Bluechart. Put the Bluechart in and power up the unit. The screen will...

    Flush mont radio...

I bought a JBL MBB18 black box setup on eBay. It arrived yesterday. I'm likely going to add the BlackBerry Music Gateway (via RCA) so that I can stream Pandora from my phone to the stereo. I don't know if it will get installed before me and the boat leave for a week in Florida, but my plan...

    GW 205 Questions

Timberxx....not to hijack the OP thread, but if you are only seeing 37 mph, something is wrong. What prop are you turning and what rpm do you see at WOT? Are you reading the speed via GPS or from the speedo on the dash (which may be reading from a clogged pitot in the lower unit.)

    GW 205 Questions

I had the same setup. Mine ran all day long at 32-34 mph and would top out at 47 or so. Plenty of torque to pull a skier. I loved the boat...sold it after 2 months for one reason and one reason only...I am 6'3" tall. I could not run the boat standing up while on a plane because the throttle...

    FM Antenna help

I bought the amplified rubber ducky antenna for less than $20 and stashed it under the console. It works pretty well. Beyond that, either the Digital 8' AM/FM or the Shakespeare will probably provide the best range.

    180 Sportsman Speaker install

Mine are not as far forward as GW shows in the schedmatic. On the starboard side, there is an inspection plate for the fuel fill. My speakers are located right below the inspection plate (same place on the port side) and there are 2 additional inspection plates that were installed. I'll get...

    Flush mont radio...

I'm toying with this same upgrade too.....but I think I'm going to create a panel and close in the glove box. I think I can fit a 5" Garmin combo unit + VHF + radio all on the same panel. The only concern is I'll have to use 1/2" starboard to support the weight. You can flush mount a radio in...

TOURNY 19' GAS TANK REPLACEMENT HELP

Is the tank done yet? Can it be shortened a bit? When the tank on my '86 190 Tournament was replaced, I had the replacement manufactured by RDS out of Perry, FL. They had the plans for the original tank, and it literally fit like a glove. If you cut the opening, you will have to try and...

    Seafarer 228G Prop Question

Drop down to a 17" pitch. You aren't doing your motor any favors if it will top out at 4700 rpm. Both my 228 (with 200 ox66) and my 226 (with a 200 HPDI) came with the Yamaha 17" SWS prop. Top end on the 228 was 5400 rpm and 43 mph. Top end on the 226 was 5400 rpm and about 38 mph. I...

    Boat Trailer Wheel Wash

Follow what Curmudgeon and Gerrys said. The flush kits are designed for drum brakes...and the need to be able to flush inside the drum. Because everything is out in the open with discs, you can rinse them with a thorough shot from the hose. It wouldn't hurt to use salt-away once a month or...

    Radio Location in a 226

Is the radio one that is compatible with the S/H remote mic setup? If it is, move the radio to the cabin and mount the remote mic next to the cigarette lighter plug or the key switch.

    Woody and Collinite

I use the Collinite cleaner, followed by the Collinite wax....both in liquid form as they are easier to work with. Yes it means two trips around the boat with the buffer, but the results are worth it....
