    Cockpit drain covers

There are perforated covers for some outlets depending on their design. You can fabricate your own out of SS or plastic screen for temporary and remove them for using the boat. My boat drains out the rear bulkhead to a through hull fitting in the transom with a flapper. My boat sits on a trailer...

Coolant level dropping , leak around cylinder head/gasket

Are you talking about an oil leak at the valve cover gasket or a water leak? It's not clear the way your first sentence is worded. I would assume that it is an oil leak at the gasket, which could be just a deteriorated gasket, lack of sufficient torque on cover bolts or deformation of the cover...

    Grady-White Freedom 325?

I don't own a boat with Helm Master but have watched several boats being maneuvered inside marinas with them and I am not impressed. They stir up a considerable ruckus because the computer puts on lots of throttle till it is happy with it's position compared to what is being asked of it. I...

    Fuel fill restriction

If you do as seasick suggests and try a snake down the fill hose, make sure you don't use a steel plumbers snake. The hose has steel wire reinforcement that could be exposed and what ever has been lost down there could be steel. Steel on steel can possibly make a spark. Something non conductive...

Adventure 208: Removing Gas Filler tube from Gas Tank neck

Freeport Adventure, Looking at your picture, it appears there is a double lamination of the tank at the gauge sender opening. Did the tank outfit install an extra thickness there for more thread support or was that OEM?

    Fuel fill restriction

Inky, With that level of restriction I would expect to find the fill hose, usually 1 1/2 inch, has a droop in it causing the hose to have a section in the low portion of the droop that is totally full of fuel which is preventing any breathing of pressure from the tank. Then I would be expecting...

    Remounting Motor Bracket

gradyjohn, When making your decision about how much work you want to put into controlling the floodable space in your bracket, you should start by looking at your intended use. If it will be a trailer boat or a marina dry storage boat there is really no point in having displacement items inside...

Lowrance Auto Pilot with twin outboards

Be sure you understand what these fellows are talking about. In a two cylinder system where you use the return fluid from the cylinder being pressurized to power the second cylinder which sends its return oil back to the helm, there will be exactly one half as much thrust available compared to...

Shipping GW 228 in a container

I understand that the rules in AU for trailer dimensions are considerably different than in the US. You may want do some inquiries to see if it is worth even shipping the trailer with the boat. IF indeed AU is where your boat is heading.

Lowrance Auto Pilot with twin outboards

My previous boat was a World Cat. I installed a pair of HDS 7 plotters and when checking out the Lowrance autopilot to finish out the set-up, I noticed that same thing about single engine only. This led me away from that brand. I figured Lowrance must have included a pump in the kit that was...

    USB outlet

I whole heartily agree with the corrosion factor of the USB connectors. I don't think the adapter should ever be left in the socket either but removed at the end of the trip. I believe if left in they will contaminate the sockets.

    USB outlet

Losing the ability to power a handheld light for spotting navigation markers, water hazards and emergency rescue situations would make me hesitant to eliminate the good ol' cigarette lighter socket. For the times you need to charge something onboard why not just keep a couple of these handy...

    Bowmount Flagpole for 204c Overnighter

I surely agree with the danger of an unrestrained pole and flag on the bow at speed. That said having a flag forward when trying to anchor accurately directly upwind of a bouy so you can drift back on it is invaluable or as CJ7Rob said, a flag makes maneuvering in a marina less stressful...

Adventure 208: Removing Gas Filler tube from Gas Tank neck

CT, Having the filler flange bolted instead of screwed on is a plus except when it's time to remove it with no easy access. I am not familiar with the details of your boats layout but is it possible to install a small deck hatch/inspection plate close enough to let you reach, or maybe even see...
