    Well, here goes!

Ha ha ha....Its just amazing how many little nuances guys have invented to navigate through that labyrinth.:) I get what you're saying about my lack of patience in the buildup, and I get your baseball analogy....it was like those times when you go all out on a swing and miss and it takes you...

    Windlass - opinions please

One of the cool things about a capstan is the fact that it stops pulling or taking line if the operator quits applying tension on the tail. The capstan just spins inside the wraps till the tail is pulled on, unlike a windlass that takes line anytime it is turned on. This is the type of switch I...

    A decade on my 228

You can buy "New Car Smell" in an aerosol can. Maybe that would work for you till they start making "New Boat Smell".:)

    Replacing Bennett Hydraulic Lines

Bob, They are a low pressure, low volume system. It is perfectly OK to just cut out the burned piece and install a coupler. If the burned section that you need to cut out is long enough that you don't have enough slack to pull the ends together, you can just use two couplers and put back a...

    Windlass - opinions please

Skunk, I am a believer in a capstan also. I installed one on a World Cat I had. It worked great and I like the fact that you can pull in any direction so when you eventually get that 400 lb. sword you can use it to bring him over the transom.(I want a picture) The one I installed was an...

    Well, here goes!

I guess I'm not doing something right. I saw where you guys have bought and are buying a Marlin, so I have been eying one down here at Marine Max. It's a really nice 2013 and their asking $179, so I figured I could work em down a bit from there, so I showed the Admiral the posts on here about...

    Well, here goes!

You must have an alarm on that sump if you were at it at 0300. I hope you have a pattern or dimensional notes so you don't have to start from square one to rebuild the planer.

    Well, here goes!

Aw shucks, I thought you would spring for one of those outlandish Kodiaks or sumpthin. Seriously though it will be a great picture with your truck hooked up to that baby. Post one when it happens. Are you looking for a trailer or does it have one with it?

    Seastar hydraulic steering

That video was scary. Rebuilding the helm needs to be done in a much cleaner work environment and far less haphazardly. The lack of cleanliness in that guys method was astounding! In my opinion, the best way to deal with a questionable helm is to send it to this guy...

    Stereo

I'm with you. I don't like music while I'm fishing. If I go on someone's boat and they blast music, I respectfully decline future invites.

Advice for 1997 Grady White Adventure 208 SeaStar Hydraulic Steering Upgrade

As the cable comes out and approaches the side of the splashwell. couldn't you just cut it off near the engine bracket with a cut-off wheel on a grinder and keep sliding it out and cutting off pieces till it was completely out. I'm not sure I am picturing things exactly right so if that sounds...

    Might be moving to FLA

Jump in the truck and come on down, the water's fine. Don't make too much of it. Point that Ram this way, and don't look back. When the radiator of that Ram gets to St. Augustine you will find that boat right there behind you, ichin to get wet.

    AutoPilot upgrade from manual hydraulic

Skunk, The instructions with the autopilot will explain all the connections you need to make. As far as which controller to use, it will depend on which course computer you choose. Usually there will be more than one controller that is compatible with any given course computer. Just make sure...

    Cold Affecting Members?

I live in SW Florida also and totally agree. I went through my normal winterizing process (tossing a long sleeved Tee in the boat) and there were a few days that compromised my comfort. Thankfully we seem to be coming out the other end of the crisis.

    AutoPilot upgrade from manual hydraulic

You don't have to install power steering to install autopilot. If you are happy with the way your boat steers manually now, just install a normal autopilot with a standard AP pump.

    Off season peculiarities

I think that perusing boats for sale is pretty normal behavior for an American male that is afflicted with aqua holism. If that behavior is leading to excessive snacking, I would not be worried. You may however need to install a given amount of ballast on the port side of your current boat to...
