To Grady or not to Grady

It was because our Spirit 175 held its value so well that we were able to get into an Adventure 208. And becasue the 208 held its value so well we could do the 258. So far, after 16 years of Grady ownership, I don't think our cost of ownership has been higher than if we had started with a more...

    Tournament 307

Striped Bass: Can you post some photos of the interior of your boat. I don't think any Grady photos show the more simple/open configuation. Tx, Rob

    OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS

Yup, I've done the nuetral safety switch. Many years ago, boat wouldn't start at the ramp on the first day of a tournament. Went into panic mode, tore the engine apart, gave up and called the very nearby dealer. Fifteen minutes later, I was severely humbled when the dealer put it in nuetral and...

    1991 Spirit 175

Griff: The 175 had a length of 17'5", a beam of 7'5" and weighed 1500 lbs. I don't recall the year, but the 180 just stretched the length by 5" to 17'10", kept the beam at 7'5" and the basic layout remaind the same. The weight went up to 1800 lbs. on the 180. Rob

repower of my 1984 24' offshore

I've got 860 hous on my Yammy F250 and it has been flawless. I'm not sure if you meant that you're looking for a 200 four-stroke, but I would not recommend the F200 or F225 over the F250 provided your hull is rated for at least 250 hp. In my experience, the F250 has not only more power than the...

    New Grady Owner!!!

Congratulations. I really like the layout of the 228. Nice boat. And it was nice of you to rescue a Grady from the oncoming Gustov. Now just keep her safe from Hana ...

repower of my 1984 24' offshore

Aple: Welcome to the forum! Can you give a little more info on your boat, i.e., is it rigged for twins or single, Do you want to stick with two-stroke or looking to go four-stroke, what kind boating do you typically do? Since our hulls are probably similar dimensions, I'll speak very...

    Grady White Spirit 175

A former Spirit owner here. We had a 1992 - our first Grady. We had great times on that boat. Even took her to Bimini, twice. She ran okay in up to a 2' chop. Anything more than that and you have to slow to plowing speed. I did not have trim tabs, but in my experiences since, I think they would...

    Recommended trim tabs for 209

Bennett has a great person - goes by the name Tabman - on www.thehulltruth.com. He is very helpful and honest. Just scroll down the home page and you'll see his forum. Also, Bennet makes a series of tabs just for Grady-White. I put these on a 1995 20' Adventure. The only difference I recall...

    Folding or removable trailer tongue

In the mid '90s Grady offered a folding grabrail/windscreen option on the Spirit 175 (same console as current 180, I believe) just for garage storage. If you need to do something similar, I would think Grady could supply you with photos or a sketch. I went with a wide trailer in which the...

    Folding or removable trailer tongue

Greg: Rayside Tuck and Trailer said they could do it on a trailer we bought from them some years ago. Wound up moving the dryer instead, but it did not look all that complicated or expensive to do. Rayside is in West Palm Beach on Military Trail. Rob

Finally a Fiberglass Cleaner that Really Works

Jake: I agree. I use the blue gel FSR. I think 'On and Off' is a bit more powerful, but the ASR is less caustic and, especially when working on the hull bottom, less likely to splash or drip onto your skin. Rob

228 with the 225 transom layout?

I have never owned one, but I really like the transom layout of the 228: a livewell on the center line and at least some ability to lean out to work a fish around the engine. Consistent with that, I like the transom of the previous generation 306 more than the new version. Guess I'm gettin' old...
