When to do PM on the Thermostats / Water Pump

This thread has my curiosity peaked, but my owner's manual is on the boat. So I checked Yamaha's web site. I could not find the online manuals that I have seen before. (Maybe someone else knows where?) But I did find 'Maintenance Matters' which looks like a replacement for the owner's manual...

When to do PM on the Thermostats / Water Pump

I should point out that the Yammie techs considered that I boat nearly exclusively in deep, blue water, flush the engines after each use and I put about 300 hours per year on my boat. One 'tech' is the head mechanic at my Grady dealership and I believe he does his best to give me reasonable...

When to do PM on the Thermostats / Water Pump

Two Yamaha techs told me 400 hours for replacing water pump and thermostat.

    Grady vs. Regulator vs. Contender

The fiberglass is very thin on our Contender 31. This boat weighs less than my Grady 258. To be fair, I have never heard of a Contender hull breaking, but you can see the hull sides flex. Also to be fair, the Contender gives a good ride in say a 2'-4' chop, but I don't like what I see and hear...

    Tiger Cat's

I also have not been on one but I really like the layout. I've heard owners say the boat's slow speed handling takes some getting used to as well. Something about Grady being a planing cat when most other cats are semi-displacement. Grady's cat was not well received in the market place. After...

    Grady vs. Regulator vs. Contender

Our work boat is a Contender 31. Good boat for running at speed in a chop. But I wouldn't want one. While running in that chop you can see the hull sides flexing and you hear every slap resonate throughout the boat beneath your feet. It doesn't instill confidence in me. The fit and finish is not...

    seav2 hull & towing

Pop: In my opinion, there is a substantial difference in the SV2 ride, especially as the seas get choppy. On flat calm water you won't feel much difference. And there is a significant difference in the ride of the 22 vs. 23. The 23 is a much bigger boat. Just compare the weights. But the 23...

replacement wiper blades for 03 marlin 30

For my 258, I went to: http://www.marinco.com/productline/wiper-blades I Found the replacement model (mine was 16") and then searched online by Marineco's part number. I'm presuming we have the same brand, although yours should be a longer length. Rob

    New Grady Owner

Steve: I don't have an answer to your question, but I do want to say congratulations on your Grady and welcome to the forum. There are many experienced folks here and I'm confident you'll get some recommendations. And that 208 is a great boat. We had one for ten years and loved it. Rob

    Yamaha 150 RPM's

That prop size sounds about right. Both Grady's and Yamaha's tests of the 205, 208 and 209 all had a 13 3/4 x 17 M prop with an F150. And with that limited of a top end I'm thinking that you would feel the boat struggling to get up on plane if prop size was the problem. I'm wondering if...

Best GW, Trailerable, Off Shore, Post SeaV2

And I will (predictably) put in a vote for the 258. Can be well powered with a pair of F150s, small enough to trailer okay, walk-around gives some weather protection and has one of Grady's more fishing-friendly transoms, IMHO. Rob

Survey: Is The Capital Meltdown Affecting You?

50 here and I'm scraping up all the cash I can to put back into the market. Maybe this isn't the bottom, maybe a lot more to go. I'm not smart enough to call the bottom. And I'm sure not smart enough to know when a bounce up is for real and time to get back in. But I do believe that many...

    top speed for a 2004 330 Express

A Yamaha factroy guy (at a boat show) told me that a cold day vs. a hot day can mean a 10% horsepower difference to an outboard. In consideration of factors that others have already posted, these 'real world' numbers don't seem so far off the 'ideal conditions' numbers posted by Grady and Yamaha.
