    Outboard Fuel Octane Question

That is how most (at least in Florida) gas stations produce mid-grade gas. It is mixed at the pump. Underground fuel tanks and their required monitoring and testing are expensive. So they only have two grades of gas tanks. Rob

Which Gradys? preowned Seafarer, Gulfstream or Voyager?

I'll offer my impressions on ride, having run 3 of the 4 boats mentioned, but I don't know much about the current used boat market for pricing. I love the layout of the 228. Best 22' walkaround on the market, in my opinion. Large fish and drink boxes and a livewell on centerline. Both the...

    94 Adventure 208 steering question

Brian: I'm pretty sure your boat came from the factory with No-Feedback mechanical steering. I don't recall hydraulic steering as being an option back then and the Grady catalog supports that. Mechanical 'No-Feedback' is also what came on my 1995 208 when I bought it new. Years later, when I put...

    Seafarer Questions, New Member

Airslot: Below is a link to Yamaha's archives. The test data posted below the link is on a 222 - same hull, but a center console. Close as I could find. Engine in this test is a 200 HPDI. I'm sure others will report their first hand experiences http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/pr ...

Free PC-based software and nav charts

Wannabe: I did as you said and it worked. Thanks! Now, a follow-up question: Has anyone been able to create a route and upload to a GPS, like, say a Garmin 4208? Tx, Rob

    New to forum,

Justafew: First, welcome to the forum. A friend of mine has that same year and model. I know he had to replace the fuel tank and the bulkhead on the aft end of the cabin. So far his transom has been good, but I don't think you can take that for granted. I'm sure others will fill out a long list...

    225 4 strokes timing belt

Shockwave: I'd say yes, wait another 500 hours before you have your dealer do a formal inspection of those parts. In the mean time, you can easily take a look yourself on occassion. If your dealer does your regular, 100 hour services, they should also be willing to just take a quick look at the...

    Salt Water Washdown/Livewell pumps

Ocean: I believe if you check the Shurflo website it will tell you that the Blaster is not a continuous duty pump, i.e., not appropriate for a livewell. I believe they recommend 15 minutes of use at a time for the Blaster. Rob

Newbie whats the difference between a Gulfstream and Voyager

Peter: In my opinion, the Gulfstream needs twin engines and the Voyager (now called Journey) is fine on a single engine. Having run both, but not the same year, narrower beam on Voyager makes for a little better ride going into a chop. I think Gulfstream handled a following sea better...

Free PC-based software and nav charts

Wannabe: Interesting post. Looks neat, but I did not get it to work. I downloaded SeaClear okay. And I believe I downloaded a chart from NOAA okay. I just can't open the chart with SeaClear. Any hints that you can provide? Tx, Rob

    Repower 204C with Yamaha F 115

Gulf Coast: First, welcome to the forum. Second, I would not be happy with a 115 on a 204. For ten years I owned a 208 with a 150. Although I was happy with the 150, I'm sure I would not have been happy with a 115. I recognize that the 204 is a little lighter and a little flatter than the 208...

Single versus double engine settup on Gulfstream!

Like Tashmoo, I prefer a single engine. We chose the 258 because, in my opinion, it was the most boat that I thought paired well with a single. We did run and consider a 232 with twin F150s, but I would not have ordered that boat with a single engine. Rob

    Adventurer vs Seafairer

Billbets: First, welcome to the forum. This is a good place to post such a question. A few years back, my wife and I were looking to trade up from our 1995 208. (A great boat, by the way.) I did a little exercise: I compared the weight of each model Grady to its cost. By that measue, the...

    RPM Operating Range...Yamaha 4-Strokes.

I try to run at what seems to be my most efficient cruise of 4,000 rpm (about 27 mph). I figure it is the most efficient speed for a reason. Of course, like most, I've held 5500 - 6,000 rpm for awhile when a lightning storm was gaining on me! Rob

    Horsepower requried for a 1988 20 Overnighter

Curmudgeon: You point out a mis-print on my part - it is actually a 225 Evinrude Ocean Pro two-stroke, not four-stroke. I agree I've never heard of anyone complaining of too much power. He and I ran offshore together frequently, he in his 204C with the 225 and me in a 208 with a 150 HPDI. On...
