    Marlin Rear Hatch Mod?

A portion of the lip is into 3/4 ply, but the edges are into a 1/4" glass. Good issue spotting. I think the glass could be served by a crimp insert. I have a kit to do that but would need to source stainless inserts. I'll use the old screws and life caulk until the season is over. Then...

    Marlin Rear Hatch Mod?

So I had some brass inserts to try and I practiced on 2 of them. I had a short bolt and used 2 nuts to insert them with some shop white wood glue. I left them just a bit proud. I noticed it was difficult to start them straight, a longer bolt might help. I'm too cheap to buy their install...

    Marlin Rear Hatch Mod?

I think I saw your post on FB, a really nice aluminum hatch? How waterproof has that hatch been? I don't want bloody tuna water getting to the bilge.

    Marlin Rear Hatch Mod?

Has anyone with an older Marlin used screw in inserts to secure the bilge hatch? I get tired of gluing toothpicks into a worn screw hole. This becomes an issue if you ever have repeated water in fuel issues from a poor marina tank. Here is what I'm considering.

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

Failure = simple corrosion. The next pump will be the type to plug in a new motor and done.

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

Two wires are used. Red is cut off at the wire gland. Pump was made on a Friday afternoon with stock on hand.

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

Yes the red wire goes into the pump. I'll take the pump apart and have a look. Good idea.

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

I bought the pump in 2014, no paperwork but I did download a pdf. I only insured the two wires worked, and the red wire didn't work with either the bro or blk. I'll have to see if there is a light in the livewell. Good suggestion, I had to retreat as the day got too hot. I give up in the...

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

Well, brown to brown and black to black works fine. I've no idea where the red wire goes on the original wiring. Slapped Deutch connectors on for the next easy replacement.

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

I went to replace my live bait pump on my 2007 Marlin and found my new pump has two wires while the old pump had 3. What is that third wire for? Will it harm the switch or whatever to use the two wire? Here are side decals.

    Rigging Cables

I was very happy to get a new GPS cable into my display. The original cables had been cut and joined above the support. That worked great for so many years but I didn't want to cut the new cable. I used WD40 to get the old cables slick as they had grunge on them. It was a bug tussle but I got...

West Coast Grady Norcal Tuna Success

Also, boats out of Astoria, OR or Ilwaco, WA are scoring big numbers of albacore. I've heard 40-60 fish is not unreasonable. Only limited by ice.

Rub Rail Fiberglass Repair along Gunnel Cap

Wow. I'd make some structural filler, or buy some, then apply to cleaned surface. But I'm just an arm chair observer on that. Lots of leak potential.

    SeaStar Helm Repair 2008 282

Don't bother to ever open the pump. Seastar will not sell the parts needed to repair, other than the front shaft seal. The best you can do is send off the pump for evaluation and repair. Seastar only sells parts to repair shops. From all the crud I found in my pump, I've committed to replace...
