    Marlin transducer flats

I don't use through hulls transducers, so I am not sure if "flat" is being used interchangably with "horizontal" to the waterline. I had 'ass'umed that flat just meant flush mounted to the hull, without fairing blocks to compensate for the angle.

    Marlin transducer flats

Skunk, I think they are flush mounting transducers on a hull with a 20 degree dead rise, therefore they need a 'ducer with a 20 degree tilted element, in order to shoot straight down.

    Breakaway Anchor

I think a lot of divers have a pretty good collection of anchors. If you engrave your phone number into it, you might get lucky if the right person finds it. When you changed the roller, did you have the groove where the stock roller fits on a lot of GW's, and if so, did you fill it or just go...

Any tips on replacing cockpit drain pipes on a Gulfstream?

I replaced the approximately 20" sections, from the rear cockpit drains to the transom scuppers. Not sure why GW didn't make a 90* turn to a through hull in a solid glass side, just aft of the deck drain, instead of putting the 2 big holes in a wood cored transom.

    New boat tool set

A handy thing to organize and store your tools in is clear tennis ball cans. They are pretty air tight, a good size for wrenches, screw drivers, flares, etc, and you can see what is in each one. And they are free in the trashcan at your local tennis court. The 4 ball cans were popular at one...

Any tips on replacing cockpit drain pipes on a Gulfstream?

From another current thread on the subject: I think that wire reinforced hose is part of the problem here, because the wire rusts, and swells, and contributes to the breakdown of the hose. I used 1 1/2 white sanitation hose, which is a loose fit on the hardware, which makes those connections a...

    Deck Drain/Hose Replacement - 225 Tournament

No, using the stock, one piece drain, you would have to put the backing nut on underneath, before attaching the hose. Even if the bottom half of the new, two piece style would fit through the hole, which I seriously doubt, the hose clamps would not, with either style. I think that wire...

Peter Jenkins -- Along The Edge Of America

How about an update on mine, as well? Should be the book, and the photo book. Books can be mailed cheaply, just put in a padded mailer, and ask for media mail rate.

    Deck Drain/Hose Replacement - 225 Tournament

Pictures help. Can you get one hand, or two, on the 4 hose connection points?

Wash down/ live well pump intake scoop positioning

The XPS will only provide 300GPH, running full blast, compared to 1100GPH from the rule, both theoretical numbers. I don't think it makes any difference which sits on the through hull, if both have the second outlet, if they have similar lift. However, the second pump does not need the aux...

Wash down/ live well pump intake scoop positioning

Scoop should face, or open, towards the front. Wash down pumps are high pressure/low volume, bait well pumps are high volume/low pressure. Buy a Rule 1100gph livewell pump for abour $45 on Ebay, or elsewhere. Screw it directly to the top of the sea cock. It has an outlet on the bottom, so you...

    RAW WATER Plumbing Questions.

Some GW's have 1 pick up, some have 2, even on the same model, so you may already have a mounting pad in the bilge, on the opposite side of the keel from the first. As Hookup said, the branch is built into the base of the pump, so you don't need tee's. With 2 pick ups and 2 Rule 1100's, you...

Captain and 1st mate armrest are nasty!

Tom, those are a different style than my 2000 SF, which are hard plastic. Does that style have some cushion to them, or are they hard plastic?

Maybe it's not the log in, maybe it's being in the Captains' Club, or Admirals' Club now, that I had to pay something like $20 to join in '03, so that I could list items in the classified forum. Anyway, if I am logged in, I don't notice any ads, other than a sponsors banner across the top of...

It's pretty simple, if you don't want to see ads, just log in. With all the bickering, you would think that it was a bunch of grumpy old men, but when an age related topic comes up, I am always surprised at how young many long time posters are.

Marlin Wiper arms- replace whole arm(has to be a trick)

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+remove+wiper+arms Grady owners should have the GW customer service in their phone. (252-752-2111) They will tell you what brand was used on your boat, and you can go from there.

THT is like New York City, you can find anything that you need or want there, just don't hang out in places like Mott Haven, Brownsville, or the South Bronx. THT got rid of a lot of trash talking, when they closed the Bilge, where anything went, and the Sandbar. Those who stayed mostly hang out...

    272 Sailfish Cracks in Stringers

I wouldn't glass over that gap without putting a straight edge on the bottom, to make sure there is not a hook in the transom.
