    Alarm on Yamaha F150

You should have a round deck plate over the sending unit. No need to pull up "floor boards". Sending unit is probably on the top front of the tank, so you want to lower your trailer in front, rather than jack it up, and let the water settle there. I would want to know what, and how much is in...

    Alarm on Yamaha F150

I doubt your tank is full of water. There may be some in the bottom of the tank, and when really low on fuel, it sloshes around and mixes with the gas, and gets to the filters. Get a spare gasket, and remove the sender, or whatever is accessible on top of the tank, and stick a wooden dowel, or...

Another post on props 228 Seafarer F225

My boat jumps on plane with either the 15.25X16 OSF4, or the M17(15.25). 15P might not be the right prop, but it should get you on plane even quicker. What hole on the engine, and what hole on the bracket is your motor mounted in?

Another post on props 228 Seafarer F225

2000 Seafarer 228. OX66225. Hard top. I ran an OFS4 (15.25 X 16)most of this summer, just took it off last week-end, to see if my mpg would go back to where it was previously, at 3mpg. The PT OFS4 was never better than 2.75 mpg, but it has a broad mid-range power band, usually 10 mph slower...

Anyone Added a 2nd Water Tank?

You don't have to connect the tanks, just run a pick up line from the second to the pump. For $10 or less, you can make a PVC manifold, with a ball valve for each line. Put it where it is easily accessible, open whichever one you want to pull from. Just remember, pumps push water much better...

    Transom Mount Bait Station

Never seen that particular set up, but it would not be my choice. The open back and sides make it too easy to lose stuff, even just cleaning fish. I am constantly spraying off the table, and the fillets, knife, etc. are often washed against the back board, with the slots in it for draining...

    2004 Seafarer $20K

My bad, I knew the side glass was not like my 2000. Texted the owner, he says '91 hull. I feel better about not over paying too much for my boat.

What are your Top 3 favorite boat mods or additions you've made?

"1. In July 2021 we repowered our 1991 Seafarer with a 2020 Yamaha F250 XB and new Armstrong Gil Bracket [see photos] - love the quietness, odorless, increase in power and fuel efficiency" I thought Armstrong and Gil were 2 different companies. Are they the same?

I have no connection to the boat or seller, just thought it was a good buy if it checks out. https://eastnc.craigslist.org/boa/d/ocean-isle-beach-graddy-white-22/7395297568.html

    Scupper access plate

That looks very straightforward, but I would recommend screw in plates on the swim platform, rather than pop in. The problem is if they pop out in rough seas, and you can’t see them, you could take on a lot of water.

    Scupper access plate

Someone showed cutting access ports on their swim platform, on one of the scupper threads. Start small, and see what’s back there. You don’t want to cut a big square, and find out you don’t have any depth for a box.

    Scupper access plate

I think he needs a water tight access in that location. Take a large saucer, turn it upside down, and make sure the area is flat where the hole goes. I guess that when you go through that transom door, you do 'transit' from the cockpit to the swim platform.

Boat envy, thinking about a new Marlin 300, have questions.

You have enough truck to launch and retrieve a Marlin, so it seems your best option would be a marina, or any boat storage with a ramp, where you could store on the trailer.

Replacing Bilge - what model is this? would you replace with an electronic switch?

Doc, look how KY's rods attach to the ball valves in his pic. You may have gotten one with a steel yoke on the end, and it rusted away, like mine did. There should have been a mounting bracket, and a ball on the end of the rod, which should have kept it from falling into the bilge. THmarine may...

    208 trim tabs

There is also probably a reason that every boat in their line up today has trim tabs as standard equipment, except maybe the 180 Fisherman.

    208 trim tabs

I'll take the other viewpoint, I wouldn't have a vee hull without trim tabs. Trim tabs are not about getting on plane, with enough horses, and the right prop. They are about being level side to side, whether from loading, being in a beam sea or a stiff cross wind, slower planing speed, and...

Thanks for that info, Doc. Now I know not to use the automotive chargers on them any more.

    sealed batteries???

What is the typical sealed lead acid computer type battery, like the one here on my desk? They say 'spillproof', and can be used in any orientation. Maybe sealed batteries have a soft seal safety release plug somewhere, in case they are hooked up incorrectly, or otherwise overheat. Never forget...
