1989 204c overnighter cuddy cabin drain

I would be very careful using a snake in 30 year old rubber hose, especially if it is the spiral ribbed bilge hose, which may catch the tip of the snake. You should be able to tell if it is smooth or ribbed by using a long screw driver, or a piece of wire coat hanger, with a short 90* bend on...

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

I think of the Shurflo Pro Blaster 2 as a washdown pump, 3.5-5 gal/minute, 1/2" outlet, at around 50psi. Bait Sentry puts out 800-1100/hour(13-18/min), thru 3/4 discharges, at a much lower pressure. That may be the reason for the noise.

Looks like a piece of old net on the anchor line.

What livewell pump is in a modern (2020) Marlin?

Where is the LW pump mounted on your 228? Mind is screwed into the top of the seacock, and I can't hear it run, or feel any vibration.

1999 Gulfstream 232 Fresh Water Pump Location.

On 228, 2000, it is on the front pf the passenger seat box. It is a round silver cap, looks just like the gas cap. edit. That's the fill. The pump is in the same place, behind a round pop out.

    Deck Removal

Use heavy braid, like 50# plus, which will cut the old caulk better.

New GW owner intro and a question on kicker bracket

Tim, do you steer the kicker, or point it straight ahead, and use the big motor as a rudder?

Can’t get a good cast surf fishing

First, new surf fishermen usually try to go long, and cast right over the fish in the surf, flounder, trout, pompano, etc. Second, if you do want to go long, you need a longer rod, and more lead. Eight and bait. That's 8oz of lead, and your bait. Eight foot rod wouldn't be bad either, if you...

New GW owner intro and a question on kicker bracket

Congrats on retirement, and on the new boat. What year, the platform has changed over the years.

    Aft Curtain

Fishtales is correct about the lack of cockpit space, you can't step out from under the hard top without going to your hands and knees. I did it to cut down on all those live oak and holly leaves in the background from ending up in my boat. Hope to finish the front soon.

    Aft Curtain

"Can you see out behind you with it on?" Running, or just sitting in the marina? Either way, I think the answer is no, I don't recall ever seeing anyone running a boat with that canvas in place. I just made one for my 228, it is actually the back half of a full cover, which I have not completed...

1995 Adventure install forward bilge pump

.A true bilge pump has an open impeller, which is submerged. If you just want to drain the standing water, and if access is the problem, and if you can reach it with a length of hose, you might be able to use a livewell pump, with a few feet of hose attached to the pick-up side. As long as it is...

    Windlass Installation

On my 228, I mounted the windlass further back, on the anchor locker hatch. I seldom anchor, and I left the lifting eye in place. So far no problems, the chain clears it when there is any tension on it. Don’t you have port and starboard bow cleats, if you decide to remove it?

    rotten stringer

Pretty sure that in 1989 that stringer would have been wood. Also a very good chance that even IF that stringer was completely encapsulated in fiberglass, they probably screwed things below deck into it further along the assembly line.

Daves Trailer Sales and Venture Trailers WARNING!

And still, the only thing holding the boat/trailer to the tow vehicle are the 2 actuator mounting bolts. That always surprises me a little, when I see it, and think about it. Yours look pretty hefty, but some are smaller, and rusty.

GW 2017 Freedom 235 Water in Bilge

Don't know about newer boats, like 2017, but older GW's are notoriuos for trapping water midship. It will usually drain on the ramp, but not jacking the trailer all the way up in the driveway. But, running on plane with 10-20 gallons in the bilge should move it aft, and kick on the bilge pump...
