Yes, you will probably need to replace scupper hoses at least. Boats of that age had the rubber hoses with the wire coil, which rust, crack, and get stiff as a board.

It's easy to make something work there, but it won't look the same. Take a male snap with a threaded stud on it, flat washer, regular nut inside the hole to keep it centered, flat washer on the other side, and a nyloc or cap nut. Would still like to see a pic of a complete one.

Don't know how the cabins compare, but I sometimes store 8 seven footers overnight, in the cabin of my 228, just laying on the vee berth. If not anchoring at the same time, you can remove the anchor locker partition, and stick rod tips in there.

I would back off one of the nuts, just to see how tight they are, maybe the mech used an air rachet, instead of a hand rachet. Or use a torque wrench, to see how tight they are. Any cracks around the bottom bolts?

Never seen that fastener. Can you show us a pic of one in place on the windshield. FWIW, it looks like it pulled out because the snap was corroded together. If there are more, I would put a knife blade between the 2 halves, pop them apart, clean and lube remaining fasteners.

Unless you mount your windlass on the hatch, to get a better drop, like I did. Then, the windlass bolts are not helping.

That's a good point. When I removed that lifting eye on my previous boat for a windlass, I considered having a nut welded to the bottom of a stainless disk to replace it, but I ended up just removing and covering it. On my current boat, it is still in place, and I am thinking of trying to cover...
