    Grady Overnighter trailer question

You will need something in the neighborhood of 5000 lbs of capacity....at that point the difference between a 5200 single axle and a 6000 tandem is generally not more than $150 or so.

    GW Sportsman 180 Pro's & Con's

If you want it to stay dry, it needs to go inside the e-box or the console. I have a cooler under the leaning post that we use for food and drink. Front fishbox and livewell are used for storage unless we are going fishing, then they are used for their intended purpose....

Is V8 Explorer enough truck to haul 18' ft GW?

I used to tow a 19 Tournament with a V8 Explorer and it did great. As long as you have the tow package and the class 3 hitch you will be fine.

    A milestone....

Its hard to believe I've reached the milestone of 1000 posts on Great Grady. So...in honor of the occasion, I looked at the top 10 most frequent posters...and I made the list!!! I haven't even had to resort to one word posts to inflate my count and avoid looking like a newbie. :shock...

2001 Tournament 192 Battery switch: Location?

You could mount the switch on the other side...which would be the inside of the splashwell. I'd call GW customer service and ask them to tell exactly where they mounted them. They could probably tell you what length screw to use, so you don't punch through the transom.

Where is your oil tank? Under the port seat? With the livewell pump, oil tank and water separator all together, there is no room for another battery there. Mine was a factory installed option and in 1998 GW put them both under the starboard seat. They do put one under each seat...

    New Voltmeter

Voltmeters are simple instruments...two wires (maybe 3 if its illuminated.) One is a ground and one goes to a switched + lead. I would check all the connections first - with a test light if necessary. May just be a loose connection.

2001 Tournament 192 Battery switch: Location?

Both batteries were under the starboard jump seat, and the switch is fastened to the inside of the transom. Your main breaker should also be fastened to the transom....should be room next to it.

    New to Forum- considering GW

If the CAN and US Dollar are at par, the price is high. I think you can find one for less...have it shipped to a port of entry, pay the duty, and still come out ahead. That said, the 192 is a great boat for what you want it to do....

    Speaker placement on 180 Sportsman

I have 6 1/2"s Aquatics between the two inspection plates on each side of the console. Easy to run the wires through the chases to the console. Head unit is a Sony. Plenty loud for me....

buying boat, travel to marina or not???

Where in FL is the boat? Perhaps someone on the board is not too far away and can go climb all over it and take some pics for you. I've done that on at least 3 different occasions for fellow posters on either GG or THT who were interested in buying a boat that was nearby. Didn't mind at all....

    GW Sportsman 180 Pro's & Con's

Mine has a 150 SWS 2 stroke...weighs more than the F150. Scuppers are right at the waterline at anchor. I do get some water in the bilge, but its coming in from the 2 inspection plates in the motor well which don't seal particularly well. I also tend to get rain water puddling on the back of...

    GW Sportsman 180 Pro's & Con's

The only other recommendation I would have is to get tabs. My doesn't have it and I'm planning to add them. If you have dual batteries, the additional weight on the starboard side can affect the way the boat runs at speed.

    GW Sportsman 180 Pro's & Con's

That low speed walk is not uncommon in boats with a healthy amount of deadrise.... Pros: A lot of boat for 18', solid, dry, plenty of power with a 150, fuel efficient (I can cruise all day at 3500 rpm and about 28-30 mph). Cons: A heavy 18' boat, while a great ride, means you likely will...

    '99 180 second battery placement?

My '98 180 has the dual battery setup and they are both under the starboard aft seat....the switch is mounted against the transom in the same compartment. You can fit two group 24's in there if you turn them lengthwise.

    Sportsman 180 Fire Extinguisher Mounting

Here is the pic...and yes I know I have a wire hanging down (to the horn)...looks like the wiretie broke. I'll fix it this weekend. I drilled all the way through but ran the screws from the inside of the ebox back through to the bracket. Looks better that way. And the plastic...

    Prop Damage: Repair or Replace

Replace it and keep that one a spare to get you home in an emergency. Do a search for Yamaha Props(or Merc - the Mirage Props perform well) on eBay. You can probably pick up a gently used one that someone else bought and then found it was the wrong size. I've bought and sold a half dozen...
