    Sportsman 180 Fire Extinguisher Mounting

I didn't get a chance to get the cover off and take a pic today...will do so tomorrow. To answer your question...yes...its horizontal. When you open the door to the console and look in, you can see the electronics box. By mounting it here, its up out of the way, yet I can grab it in an...

    Sunglasses for Fishing

I love my CDM's...but have had some problems with their customer service. Last time I tried to take advantage of their repair program, they sent me back someone else's sunglasses. It took an act of congress to get them to replace them with a new pair of the same style, since mine were long...

    Removing Steering Wheel

My local autozone will rent a wheel puller for about $10. I have the Schmitt wheel...its tough to tell it from the Edson.... One thought, make sure you figure out where "center" is and install the wheel so the ball is not at groin level when you are standing up running the boat. One good...

    Help! Choosing Between Boats

I once bought a 190 Tournament that had sat for 2 years. I blew the engine (a 150 Johnson) within 20 hours. I think you are better off with something that has been used. Two thoughts....one - obviously a survey and a checkout by a mechanic. 2nd, I'd find a way to jump on a plane and go see...

    268 hull bubble

I remember reading in the 50 years of GW history book that they replaced a bunch of hulls that had delamination problem...was that in the 80s or 90s? I wonder if maybe this was one of them....

    Sportsman 180 Fire Extinguisher Mounting

I mounted mine to the side of the electronics box...inside the console. Drill your holes and run the screws from the e-box through the bracket. With a finishing washer on them and a cap nut, it looks good and is out of the way. I'll take a pic in the next day or two....

    F200 Running Temperature

The overheat alarm is part of your key switch assembly. Its easy to check and see if it works. Pull off the safety lanyard...turn the key to the start position, and listen for the alarm. As long as you hear it, you know that its working. The trim indicator is part of the tach. The fuel...

    am/fm antenna

Shakespeare makes a VHF/FM splitter....you plug the antenna in on one side and there are 2 leads on the other side. One goes to the VHF and one to the stereo. That said, my experience with the splitter has been disappointing. I picked up noise in my VHF, had no AM reception, and I think it...

    Repowering 1990 232

With 2300+ hours you have gotten your money's worth... I'm not sure you could put a door in the middle where the drop used to be...in order to bolt the bracket to the transom, reinforcement bracing will need to be placed inside the transom to hold the weight of the bracket and the OB, as well...

    Repowering 1990 232

It will have to be filled in and reinforced... Have you priced a new powerhead...it appears a new 250 E-Tec is $16K...you probably can rebuild your Yami for 1/2 that....

Can't get radio on the AM dial!

The only way I've ever been able to get a decent clear AM or FM signal is with a separate, dedicated AM/FM antenna. When I had my 226, I stuck an 8' AM/FM antenna on the hardtop. On the 180, I tried the splitter and took it out as it killed the VHF range. Right now I'm using the $5 dipole...

    product for cleaning hull

Make sure you rewax if you use any of these products. If your scumline is from Lake Lanier (and I get it too - all the time), you can use Simple Green full strength to get it off, as well.

Just bought my 92 fisherman 20, which fuel do i use???

If you can find a marina with non-E10 fuel, its a plus. Unfortunately, they are few and far between. I burn 89 Octane mid-grade in mine...add in Ring-Free and either Pri-G or Star Tron to handle the E-10, and keep an eye on my filters. If you don't have a 10 micron filter, I'd consider...
