    24' Offshore listing to starboard

I never noticed this on my old Offshore on the mooring, but I did notice a dramatic list to starboard underway when the fuel tank was getting low, but nothing the tabs wouldn't handle. Do you have any extra items that are heavy stored on that side of the boat? The 22' Seafarer we picked up...

    Big problems '99 Sailfish Motors

After you check all of the connections and if you are still having a problem I had corrosion on the inside of the battery selector switch contacts. It was very easy to disassemble, clean, and put back together. Defiantly sounds like a bad connection somewhere on the boat itself since both...

    Brass Drain Install

I used and hammer with an old chisel and screwdriver and folded the drain in on itself and worked my way around it and pushed it through to the inside. It was real easy. That would be an expensive bit if you don't have one that big kicking around, although I am sure it would work good. The...

    2000 OX66 250 oil pump doesn't shut off

Could the manual switch be stuck in the on position or be faulty? I assume the float they replaced was the one in the main tank, and not the remote tank. If you take the float of the remote tank out so it reads "empty" does the pump stop? I had issues with the oil system in another boat with...

    Brass Drain Install

The brass drains on my 272 Sailfish were looking suspect. After some reading here I decided to give it a try. One was damp but still solid. I coated the hole with 5200 and the tube. 1/4" extra was perfect for a nice flange. I bought 3" tubes and 3 7/8". The 3" was just too short for my boat, so...

    Yamaha 250 Possible Limp Mode?

Thanks for the info, someone suggested limp mode, and that didn't seem likely at first either and figured I would ask here. I am going to have to lean to clogged jets, the motor has new fuel pumps and I have been running it off a 5 gallon external tank to rule anything on the boat out. I...

    Yamaha 250 Possible Limp Mode?

Thanks, that makes the most sense to me, especially where the motor was in storage for so long. The fuel pumps are brand new. I have a new-to-me OX66 for the boat I want to hang anyways, but it would be easier to sell this one running right.

    Yamaha 250 Possible Limp Mode?

I have a 1996 Yamaha 250hp that was in storage for 6-8 years on the Seafarer I picked up. I have a newer OX66 to hang on the boat but would also like to figure this motor out since it will serve someone well. It has good compression, new fuel off an external tank, new fuel pumps and filters...

Yamaha V-6 225 Salt Water Series II, 1997 - Overheat Alarm

Re: Yamaha V-6 225 Salt Water Series II, 1997 - Overheat Ala I had popet vavle issues with my boat. I replaced it with the new style. From what I understand is that the oring in the block gets buildup under it and then the plastic valve cannot close completely. The new style helps prevent this...

    Show Us Your Grady

That is a beautiful boat! I was drooling over one at the boat show the other day, this is defiantly my "someday" boat!

After 14 Years, We're Back! Need advice on 222 Fisherman

Re: After 14 Years, We're Back! Need advice on 222 Fisherma Cant speak for that hull, but I would suggest changing all of the filters including the ones in the motor and send the injectors out to be serviced. I have been using www.fuelinjectorman.com. Its cheap insurance to keep that OX66...

    Wakeboarding Behind a Tournament

A friend of mine has a real nice Malibu wakeboard boat, but he never leaves the lake behind his house (guess I wouldn't either in his situation). I am a novice but its fun trying, we have our Seafarer and my neighbor/boating buddy down the cape has a '98 Tournament with the 225hp. I have the...

    weathered bolster cushions

$300 did all of mine in our Sailfish, including the rear curved one at a local shop. There was a shop in Florida that "specialized" in Grady upholstery, but they were around $2k :jaw and I had to send them my old stuff. Anyone in the Eastern MA area, more specifically Metrowest Kelly's...

    Recomendations for transom rebuild

I like my 225's. I had a few issues with one the first season I had this boat, figured it out to be the O2 sensor and the throttle positioning sensor, I hope! I am going to have the props tuned too to try and gets the RPMs in better sync. Great motors though!

    Recomendations for transom rebuild

I thought a 1999 should have the "rot-free" wood in it. I guess that would not prevent the fiberglass skin from delaminating though. I was going to tackle a similar project on a local bat that was for sale cheap but the wood was actually rotted, seller didn't accept offer in the end for the...

Need to replace throttle cables ?

1991 Seafarer on a bracket has 22' cables, just replaced them in the fall. I tried pulling the new ones through with the old ones, but it didn't work out well. The rigging tubes are pretty well done, so if you pull out the old ones completely the new cables should feed right through. I didn't...

    REUPHOLSTERING BOLSTERS

I had all mine done last year on my 272 including the curved backrest on the transom. I have a local upholstery guy I have used for several projects, he charged either $350 materials and labor, I brought the old ones to him. I could not have been happier with the result, they look factory...

THE FINER POINTS OF YAMAHA WATER PUMP REPAIR: QUESTIONS

It is not pone to getting lost, you will see the retainer cap and the o-ring under it (its pretty thick and rugged). The first time I did a water pump I forgot to move this over to the new housing and is something that could be easily overlooked.

THE FINER POINTS OF YAMAHA WATER PUMP REPAIR: QUESTIONS

I have changed a number of water pumps of v6 Yamaha's, mainly OX66's. I always have left the motor in neutral, only once did I slightly struggle lines up the splines but it wasn't a big deal. I have always done the whole housing. If you do the whole housing there is a gasket /o-ring and a...

Bow Lifting Eye on Advance or Journey 257?

I am at the fire station for the entire weekend, don't get out until Monday at 6pm. I will take a picture and send it, but it probably won't be until Tuesday. Andrew
