Possibly the dumbest question ever asked on GG?

Yamaha no longer and has not for a while put a date stamp on the motor bracket. The change was done to clear up the confusion on what year a motor was. It kind of like automobiles. An auto may be a 2023 model sold in 2022. The boat model year depends on when the hull was assigned a HIN. If it...

    The New Guy

Stick a garden hose into the fill port and fill till it overflows. Let it run that way for several minutes. That will help loosen up gunk and make it float out the filler ( The water hose should be loose and not sealing the opening). You may have in line filter in your plumbing, somewhere...

    Used '16 F300 will my '99 ox66 controls work?

Yup, the XCA is digital control. I think, nothing will work except maybe steering (if hydraulic) As wspitler mentioned, you will probably need all new harnesses and probably gauges

    209 nav lights

Both what wires were black? The wires in the hull or the wires from the new lights. What was wired on the old lights? the light fixture.

    which prop for a seafarer 228 with a F225?

I wasn't asking about the skep being in the water when the motor is tilted up. I was asking where the ant ventilation plate sits when the motor is tilted down ( vertical). The plate for a transom mounted motor should be about level to an inch lower than the bottom of the keel. For bracket...

Grady White 252Sailfish Sport Bridge with Twin Yamaha 200HP - $20,000

Refurbished in 2001? Is that a typo? What year is the hull?

    which prop for a seafarer 228 with a F225?

What was the 2s hp rating? your new motor weighs about 100 pounds more What is your WOT for the 4 stroke? You probably just cant assume that the old prop may work better on the new motor since I believe the gear ratio is different. Since you have a bracket and a heavier motor, the stern may be...

    Help w/ the Head .

If you look at the stats for sinkings , the vast majority are due to equipment failure at the dock. Most of those are water intrusion due to leaks , often plumbing for seacocks like hoses and pumps. So, statistically, it makes sense to close all seacocks when boat is not in use. I agree that on...

    ProMariner died 300 Marlin

In theory that makes a lot of sense. The variable in the real world is that the two batteries may not have the same characteristics (especially if different ages or manufacturer). If the standing voltages are different, one battery will drain the other). Than may cause a charger to use a non...

    Help w/ the Head .

Interesting question. The discharge seacock is only used when emptying the holding tank into the sea. There are areas where it is legal to discharge and places where it is not. In my area, overboard discharge is not allowed with 3 miles of the coast line. You are also required to provide some...

Assuming the seacock is open and not blocked, you may have a leaky pump. There are kits to rebuild but it may pay to replace the pump with a new and improved unit. I think this is your part https://www.hodgesmarine.com/jab29040-2000-jabsco-manual-pump-assembly-for-29090series.html

    Trailer Rebuild

Boston Whaler states that using a roller trailer will void the hull warranty . I have and probably so have you seen hulls that have indentations where rollers were pressing. Grady on the other hand specifically states that rollers are OK for all hulls. What's the difference? I can't say for sure...

    Trailer Rebuild

One potential gotcha on roller bunks is that some manufactures ( not Grady) will void a hull warranty if a roller trailer is used. Softish cored hulls can take a set and dent as well as put excess stress on the outer layers.

    Help w/ the Head .

Model/year of boat? If you can see the 'valve' it would be pretty obvious if it was a seacock since there would be one hose connected to one end of the valve with the other end mounted to the hull (with a through hull) The seacock itself will have a handle that is turned half a turn to open or...

Is there a strainer on the water feed? It may be clogged. It is also possible that the through hull fitting is clogged with marine growth. When you press the button, do you hear the pump run? If it does run but no water enters the bowl, you may have a bad pump (impeller), a leaky gasket...

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

That's interesting. I did some research and Pentair Shurflow says the models are identical, -020 model being oem and the 021 model being the aftermarket model. Both show only two wires:) Si, I am curious as you are. What color is the mystery wire? If you figure it out, let us know. light.

    ProMariner died 300 Marlin

I assume that you have a Voltage Sensitive Relay (VSR) that connects the positive terminal of the starter battery to the house battery when the charging voltage is greater than 13.7 or so volts. Since your system ran 5 years, I guess it's fair to say the setup worked but charging dissimilar...

    Fuel guage

If you have two tanks, there should be a switch at the helm which selects which tank's level the gauge is displaying. Try to find that and switch it to see what happens to the display ( give it a few seconds to respond). You might have a bad sender ( or a sender wire that is shorted to ground)...

    Live Well on Fisherman 236

I mentioned velcro with the hope that it would be somewhat easy to remove and also replace. The slotted piece looks like HDPE and if so, marine adhesive wont stick well. If you wanted to get fancy, you could install snaps and make a screen with a border of material that could take a snap. A...
