Broken skeg but no prop damage

Marina has a no penalty policy for the lift operators. The guy we suspect could have done the damage also did 10 grand in damage to another boat last year. The manager is going to look into it, but I doubt anything will come of it to my benefit. I think the gelcoat damage was from another boat...

Broken skeg but no prop damage

You said you had gouges in the lower unit. Mine was spotless. The conversation came up with a veteran of the same rack. I told him what we found. His immediate response was "I'm sure they hit it with the lift. It wouldn't be the first time!" I can't prove it, but I think I'll call the Marina to...

Anti cavitation plate - when to move the engine?

We tested with a light load and half tank of fuel. We trimmed from down to up and the ACP was still about the same depth in the water. I'm wondering if fresh water is contributing to the issue.? Ya, 3rd hole from top. I can only move one more hole. On a side note, getting the prop cupped made...

Anti cavitation plate - when to move the engine?

After consulting the "Prop Gods" they lead me to discover my engine is likely mounted too low. The ACP is about 1/2" under water while running on plane. I was told the ACP should be skimming the surface. The holes on the engine mount appear to be 20mm appart. If I move the engine one hole and...

Broken skeg but no prop damage

I'm concerned about repercussions. We can't prove anything. To make things worse we went up yesterday to remove the lower unit and there were fresh gouges completely through the gelcoat on the port side. We never dock to port!

Broken skeg but no prop damage

Is this possible? I used the boat last and don't recall being near anything shallow or hearing any noises. My dad went out yesterday and the guys at the rack pointed out the skeg was torn off. Oddly not a single mark on the prop. The impact appeared to be from the side. We suspect the lift...

Hard starting when hot - 1998 Yamaha 225's

One of mine didn't leak. I took the pump apart anyway and had a 1/2" tear in the diaphragm. I still cannot figure that one out. Needless to say the engine ran much better after that find!

    Anyone running E-tec

Gw, Who selects the prop for you? I would make sure the dealer gives you options to try rather than send you out the door with a best guess that they won't let you exchange.

    what truck to buy?

The ecoboost 150 will get the best MPG towing, but as someone else stated, the increase in mpg over what you already have is an investment that will likely never good make financial sense.

    '96 248 Voyager questions

Unless you have a strong desire to own a boat with those modifications, I would absolutely pass on that rig. Spend 5-8k more and get a lifetime less of headaches. There are WAY better deals on Voyagers for a little more $... and I would also agree that doesn't look like a 96.

    Naked AND Skinny

What is unfortunate about outboard power ratings is that the numbers leave a lot to be desired. Examples on both ends of the spectrum are 225 Yamaha 4-stroke zuk 175's. Inline 4's can make much better torque than a similar displacement v6. The zuk's likely make better midrange torque to get you...

    Oddball Fuel Issues

Intermittent issues can be a nightmare to track down. Seasick might be onto something. Before I would go crazy testing theories, I would start from the plugs when it isn't running and check for spark and gas.
